The La Sal Mountains rise quietly on Moab’s horizon, but their story is anything but quiet.
About 25 million years ago, pockets of magma pushed toward the surface—not enough to erupt, but enough to lift the land into the sharp peaks we see today. These “laccoliths” became the La Sals, shaping the skyline, the weather, and the lives that grew around them.
Today, their snow feeds Moab’s canyons. Their storms roll over red rock. Their silhouette reminds us that time moves slowly… but beauty forms constantly.
Here’s to the mountains that were born of fire and carved by time.
