Happy International Day of the Seal!🦭 Each year, March 22nd is a day to raise awareness and promote the conservation of seals and sea lions. If you love seals and sea lions, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand are ideal destinations to see these playful pinnipeds.

Fun Fact: A seal can sleep underwater!

Seals, sea lions and fur seals are marine mammals called pinnipeds, meaning "fin-footed" in Latin. Their main distinctions are their ears and fins. Sea lions and fur seals have external ear flaps (thus, called eared seals), while true seals are earless. Meanwhile, sea lions and fur seals have larger front fins allowing them to "walk" on land; however, true seals have smaller flippers for fast swimming and tend to slide around on their bellies on land.
