If your checked bag disappears, could you survive the first 24 hours of your trip?

Because THIS is why I keep telling y’all not to put everything you own in that checked suitcase.

Your carry-on should have enough to get you through at least one full day:

A complete change of clothes.
Medication.
Chargers.
Basic toiletries.
Undergarments.
And anything else you absolutely cannot replace easily once you land.

I’ve seen people arrive at the destination while their luggage decided it needed an extra vacation somewhere else.

And listen…lost luggage is already stressful.

Lost luggage AND no clean underwear?

Now we have a situation.

Pack your checked bag for the trip.

Pack your carry-on like your checked bag might not show up.

Let me talk to the woman who has always wanted to go to Africa but keeps talking herself out of it.

Too far. Too much. Too big. Maybe when the timing is better.

I know, because I was her once. I did not get my passport until I was grown, and the first time I boarded that plane to Ghana I was nervous too.

And then I stood on that ground. On the same soil my ancestors were taken from. And every fear I walked on with went quiet, because I was not on vacation. I was home.

Here is what nobody tells you. You do not have to be a seasoned traveler to go. You do not have to have it all figured out. You come with us, everything is handled, and you are surrounded by women walking into the very same moment you are.

Ghana is not a someday trip. It is a this-is-your-time trip.

Real talk for a second.

When is the last time your whole family was together and it was not a funeral?

We keep saying we are going to get everybody in one place. We keep meaning to plan the reunion, take the cousins trip, make the memory. And life keeps happening. People get busy. Time keeps moving.

I do not want that for you. I do not want it for me either.

That is exactly why I am creating a cousins trip on purpose. Somewhere beautiful, everything handled, so your family can come together for something joyful for a change. While everybody is still here to enjoy it.

Do not wait on the next hard thing to be what finally brings everybody home.

The one that has been planning a trip since 2019. Somebody drops a destination. Everybody says yes we HAVE to. Two people send flights. And then nothing. Right back to regular life until somebody brings it up again next year.

Sis, I am about to fix that.

I am putting together a trip built for exactly this. The cousins who talk about it every holiday but never make it out the group chat. No more one day. We pick the date, I handle every single detail, and all y'all have to do is show up and finally make the memory.

Tag the cousin who ALWAYS says we should travel but never books it. Let's call her out with love. Who is she?

Travel Tip Tuesday, and this one is going to save you real money.

Stop exchanging your cash at the airport. Those shiny currency counters in the terminal give you the worst rate every single time, and they tack on a fee while they do it.

Here is what I do instead:

Carry a card with no foreign transaction fees. Check with your bank before you go, a lot of people are paying extra on every swipe and do not even know it.

Pull local cash from a bank ATM once you land. You get the real exchange rate, not the tourist markup.

Call your bank before you leave and tell them where you are going, so they do not freeze your card the first time you use it overseas.

Little stuff like this is the difference between a smooth trip and a stressful one.

Let me clear something up, because I hear it constantly.

You do not have to be rich to travel. You have to be intentional.

The women I take on trips are not all doctors and executives. They are teachers, nurses, hairstylists, grandmamas who decided their turn had finally come. They used a payment plan. They said no to a few things so they could say yes to the big one.

The lie a lot of us were raised on is that travel is for a certain kind of woman. It is not. It is for the woman who decides she is going.

What were you taught about travel growing up? Because for a lot of us, the message was that it was never meant for us.

I can usually tell everything I need to know about a woman by how she vacations…..

So which one are you?

Do you want slow beach days on the beach reading a book, and a schedule that says absolutely nothing.

Or are you the woman who is up at sunrise with a full itinerary because she did not fly all that way out of the country to sit still.

I already know how some of yall like to be the first ones headed to breakfast and while on your way….you are walking to the pool area to save you a pool chair in the shade.
