Greetings fellow cruisers. I apologize for not being able to post to or access this group until now. Something to do with FB rules and regs. Anyway, we are well aware that we have many dissatisfied folks checking out our page, waiting for an announcement about our new home.
While there haven't been any confirmed agreements yet, our members and Club Spokesman have been working very hard to find a new home, and enter talks and negotiations with property owners. It isn't easy. There are many key points that MUST be addressed, and if any one of them can't be met, the whole idea at that location falls apart. Those points are:
The size of the parking lot must be large enough to hold all the vehicles, AND DO SO without interfering with the parking of customers using other businesses located there.
LIABLITY is a major obstacle, and in this law suit crazy era, it is very easy to just deny anything that might add to any chance of being sued. While the Club does bring it's own insurance for the cruise with it, just the idea of liability is a turn-off to many property owners.
Access to restrooms. Many businesses will allow cruise attendees to use their restrooms, but again many will not. In that case, the Club must provide porta-johns, and at our expense. We are a non-profit club and our income is limited, so that expense is also a major consideration.
Access to food and drink. We need to be at a location where this is available.
Electricity and a place for the Club to "set up home" on every cruise. It also needs to have an overhang of some kind to protect our equipment in case of rain. And it also must not interfere with the usage of the area for regular customers.
These are just five major points. There are also other considerations that each property owner feels important to their part of any agreement.
So as you can see it is not an easy or quickly resolved process. But please, again, bear with us as we are doing our best to get back! We want to be out there with our cruise as badly as our cruisers.
Thank you. We'll keep you posted
