An African Hawk-Eagle (Aquila spilogaster) sits like a statue, silently and intensely scanning a waterhole in the African Savannah, ready in ambush for any unsuspecting birds coming to drink. Especially keen on game birds such as guineafowl and francolins, this one sat patiently for over an hour before a failed hunt scared all its potential prey away, so it resumed its perch for another long vigil.
