LOBSTER & NET BUOYS made at Buck Island Bay Decoys @ Rock-n-Creek Cabin. Ready for your out building, fence or wall.
Growing up on the water in OV. For those that don’t where OV is. Well Ocean View is in Norfolk, Va. on the Chesapeake Bay. I have always enjoyed buoys and fish netting. Anything that was used on the water.

When visiting Maine I was intrigued by the vibrant colors of the lobster bouys.
I researched the history of the lobstermen and how they come about the colors. Each family licensed was issued a number and was handed down through generations. They created their own color schemes that was also handed down. Each buoy had to be painted the same and owners name and number must accompany each buoy. It’s hard to find old wooden buoys these days and if by chance you find one they are usually expensive.
As we all know everything is being replaced by plastic and styrofoam. So old wooden bouys & waterfowl decoys are now plastic. This is why I continue making my craft using old time methods and tools.

UPDATE : Rock-n-Creek Cabin October availability.
October is Fall Foliage for us on the mountain. It’s when everyone wanting to witness the color change rush to the Blue Ridge Parkway to seeing this amazing transformation.
Lodging in my area Crabtree Falls is limited for the number of people wanting to visit and stay close to the color.
Rock-n-Creek Cabin is located just 1.5 miles off of the BRP MILE POST 27.
October has just 4 weekends we currently have availability weekends 4-6, weekends 25-27.
We are open year round and available during the week. Most people don’t have the flexibility for weekdays.
