Cruise News! ⚓️We are wrapping up our 4 night sailing aboard Utopia of the Seas, and after spending the week exploring the ship, I have to say there are quite a few things that really surprised me. Having sailed several of Royal Caribbean’s older Oasis Class ships, Utopia feels familiar, but also noticeably more modern and thoughtfully designed in a lot of ways. Many of the things I sent feedback on about in the past seems to have been taken into consideration!
Here are a few quick facts and observations from my current sailing aboard Utopia of the Seas 🚢
• Debuted in 2024
• More than 236,000 gross tons
• Nearly 1,200 feet long
• 18 decks with eight distinct neighborhoods
• More than 20 dining options
• Five pools and eight whirlpools
• Water slides, FlowRider, zip line, ice skating, AquaTheater shows and tons of live entertainment
What really stands out to me is how much Utopia feels like a newer generation of Oasis Class.
• The express elevator system has you select your deck before boarding, then directs you to the correct elevator. It makes getting around a ship this large much easier.
• The Windjammer buffet is noticeably larger than on some of the older Oasis Class ships. There is much more food selection and a lot more seating, which is a huge improvement.
- 💤😴BEDS! - if you’ve sailed on a older Royal Caribbean vessel, you know that the beds are European and on the firm side. Mattress toppers were hard to come by when requested. Utopia of the seas has incredible upgraded luxury mattress & bedding, including a foam topper that makes the bed feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud! 
• The Solarium is now 18+ (used to be 16+) and air conditioned, which is such a nice change compared with the more open air Solariums on some of the older Oasis Class vessels.
• Utopia may have fewer traditional pools than you would expect for a ship this size, but there is an incredible amount of comfortable seating and lounging space throughout the pool decks.
• The casino is enormous, easily one of the largest I have seen at sea.
• There is also a separate nonsmoking casino located away from the main casino, which makes a huge difference if you want to gamble without dealing with cigarette smoke.
We are currently on a 4 night sailing from Port Canaveral with stops in Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay.
In Nassau, I was able to experience the new Royal Beach Club Paradise Island, (worth every penny!) followed by another beautiful beach day at Perfect Day at CocoCay.
Today is our sea day and Mother Nature is giving us some stormy weather as we make our way back to Port Canaveral for Friday. 🌧️🌊
After sailing several of the older Oasis Class ships, Utopia really does feel like Royal Caribbean took what worked and modernized it.
