What a packed day!
Started the morning with a hike to Mendenhall Glacier and Nugget Falls. Fun fact: Mendenhall Glacier stretches about 13 miles long and is actually retreating due to climate change.

After, we went on an amazing whale watching tour where we learned so much about humpback whales + their migratory patterns. The best part? We got to see Flame (shes been named the most photogenic humpback in the world)!

And as I’ve heard, no trip to Juneau is complete without a stop at Deckhand Dave’s. We finally tried the famous Dirty Halibut Fries, and they were every bit as good as the hype! 🤤

One of my favorite things about travel is that it’s not just about seeing new places—it’s about learning something new, making memories, and sharing those experiences with the people around you.

We get to Dawes Glacier. And everything stops.

Dawes is an active tidewater glacier — meaning it flows directly into the sea and is CONSTANTLY moving, shifting, and calving right in front of your eyes. Over a mile long, ice - that is thousands of years old breaking off with a crack so loud it echoes through the entire fjord.

This is the kind of moment that makes people cry on vacation. 🙋🏼‍♀️

Our morning cruising Endicott Arm 🧊

Endicott Arm is a 30-mile-long fjord carved by glaciers over thousands of years — and simply breathtaking. The 5am wake up was completely worth it to experience this. (with coffee in hand).

The star of the show? Dawes Glacier — a tidewater glacier sitting at the very end of the fjord that is ACTIVELY calving into the water. Like, you will literally hear and watch chunks of ancient ice the size of cars crash into the sea in real time. 🧊💥

The walls of the fjord rise up to 3,000 feet on both sides. Waterfalls everywhere. Harbor seals and bald eagles chilling on ice floats.

And the color of the ice? That deep glacial blue isn't a filter. That's science. The ice is so compressed it absorbs red light and reflects blue. You're basically floating through a National Geographic spread. 📸

If you’re stopping in Skagway, I will always recommend booking the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway.

The historic White Pass & Yukon Route Railway was originally built during the Klondike Gold Rush in 1898 and is known as one of the most scenic train rides in the world. As the train climbs nearly 3,000 feet in elevation, we enjoyed breathtaking views of waterfalls, glaciers, mountain peaks, deep gorges, and historic trestle bridges. We even crossed the border into Canada in the Yukon Territory on our ride!

Before we got back on the ship, we found the best fish & chips ever (halibut) .. still talking about that!
