Visit Montrose

Visit Montrose Data shows Montrose is the perfect place for your Colorado vacation. Period. Montrose is the base-camp for adventures into the Black Canyon National Park.

Montrose is the hub of the Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains.

260 miles southwest of Denver, its the perfect destination basecamp for year-round adventure. Visitor's come to see the sheer granite canyon walls that plunge 2,722 feet to the river below. The park offers world-class fishing and the best of the best canyon hiking in all Colorado. The North Vista Trail is one of the "Top 10 Canyon

Hikes in the U.S. Parks" according to National Geographic magazine. The town of Montrose sits in the middle of 882,760 acres of public lands. That fact is why Outdoor Life magazine named Montrose as one of the "Top 200 Towns for Outdoorsmen." Telluride, Ouray, Crested Butte, Silverton and Gunnison are all within day-tripping distance. Winter sports fans ski, snowshoe and sled in unparalleled natural beauty. In fact, the Montrose airport is the hub for hundreds of Telluride ski flights each season. In summer, bikes and rock crawlers roam the jeep tracks of the Uncompahgre Plateau from here to Moab. Four designated scenic or historic byways converge right here in town. Plus, the history of the desert west comes to life at the Montrose County Historical Museum, the Ute Indian Museum and the world-famous Museum of the Mountain West. Meet the Montrose High School Black Canyon Rotary Interact Club

This student-led powerhouse is all about leadership, service, and building a better world—starting right here in Montrose. The Interact Club gives students real-world opportunities to grow, give back, and make an impact locally and globally.

From planning youth leadership events like the Young Adult Leadership Conference and welcoming exchange students, to fundraising, organizing blood drives for Belize, and building shade structures at local elementary schools—these students stay busy making a difference. They also help local non-profits, donate ShelterBoxes, visit the homeless, and adopt a highway to keep our community clean!

Proceeds from this year’s Montrose Mudder 5K on Saturday, May 10, at Cerise Park will go directly to support the incredible work of the Black Canyon Interact Club. Come out, get muddy, and stand behind the next generation of leaders and changemakers!
