This week on the blog, Meredith Calloway breaks down a recent podcast conversation with Heather Vergara, founder of Show Them the World and one of GTN's top producers.

Before the clients and the top-producer status, Heather was writing a travel blog that nobody paid her for. She spent her personal time detailing posts about her own trips because people kept asking where to go. That work didn't flip the switch from hobbyist to travel entrepreneur on its own, but it laid the foundation so that by the time Heather put a real strategy in place and built her business, the proof was already there waiting for her.

More times than not, sticker shock is a communication problem rather than a budget problem. Shawn Lamphear of LM Authentic Travel shares a lesson straight from Travel MBA: don't wait until you're deep into planning to talk numbers. Give clients a per person, per day range from the very first conversation, so they know what to expect before they fall in love with a trip they can't afford.

Communication isn't just part of the job. It's the foundation the whole client relationship is built on and it applies to all areas of travel planning.

A lot of advisors join a host agency expecting real access, then end up feeling like one more name in a system.

We hear it often. FAM invitations that go to whoever happens to check their inbox first. A community so large that getting noticed feels like winning a raffle. Access that exists on paper but never quite shows up in real life.

That's not how Gifted Travel Network works. We choose advisors we believe are the right fit for each trip, and we keep our community intentionally curated so you're not competing against thousands of others for the same opportunity.

That kind of access changes your business. It means more invitations, more recognition, and the chance to actually stand in the places you're recommending to clients, which shows in how you talk about them.

Big news for our Canadian sister company, Trevello Travel Canada! During Virtuoso Travel Week, Trevello Canada was named Best Agency Culture, Canada at the Virtuoso® Awards Gala. Also, Patrick Cullinane of Travel Navigators, a Trevello affiliate, took home the Most Admired Advisor, Canada award and Ashley Neill made finalist for the Rising Star Award. We could not be more proud to celebrate these accomplishments!

✈ Meet Krystal Winchel from Basehor, Kansas, who recently joined our Travel MBA program as part of our July 2026 cohort.

Krystal's professional background spans business management, data analytics, graphic design, and marketing, a combination that now fuels her work as founder of Traveling the Atlas. She's spent years planning trips for family and friends simply for the love of it, and with her kids now grown, she's ready to build a business around what has always excited her most. When she's not designing dream vacations, she's behind the wheel of exotic cars, having completed rallies in nearly every U.S. state with her sights set on Japan next.

Krystal's goal is simple: happy clients who keep coming back, built on genuine care and exceptional service rather than just booking trips. She's looking forward to learning from advisors who've already achieved the success she's working toward and building Traveling the Atlas into a premier name in luxury and adventure travel.

Another Virtuoso Travel Week is in the books. Our entire Executive team, including Jen Cochrane (Chief Executive Officer), Meredith Calloway (Chief Membership Development Officer), Sandy Saburn (Chief Communications Officer), and Kristin Matthews (Vice President, Professional Development), as well as Tracey Golon (Director of Partner Relations) and Dylan Todd (Account Manager, Partner Relations), were in attendance. We were also joined by nearly 40 of our GTN advisors.

This week is always such an excellent way to connect with partners in the industry and strengthen the relationships that make it possible for our advisors to deliver exceptional experiences for their clients. From one-on-one appointments to the moments in between, it's a reminder of what the Virtuoso® network makes possible for this community.

Shawn Lamphear and Jon Malpass of LM Authentic Travel went from corporate careers to a seven-figure producing, six-figure-earning travel business in under two years. In this episode, Shawn and Jon join Meredith Calloway to break down exactly how they did it: why referrals (not cold outreach) drove every client they've landed, how their software backgrounds shaped the systems and workflows behind their business, and where AI is filling in the gaps as they scale.

Shawn and Jon also get real about what surprised them most, including how much more "sales" the job turned out to be, and share the biggest challenges they've faced around social media, marketing consistency, and educating clients on the true cost of luxury travel. Plus, hear their favorite "pinch me" moments from the past two years, including one unforgettable stay at the Mandarin Oriental, London.

Tune in for practical takeaways from Shawn Lamphear and Jon Malpass on building momentum from day one, leveraging your network, and what it really takes to grow a seven-figure travel business.

Abby McCormick (MMarkham Travel) joined a Gifted Travel Network agency in her first year as a Travel Advisor. Living in a city where in-person events are hard to come by can make this career feel challenging, but with GTN, she's been able to find access to preferred partners and professional development virtually at her fingertips.

At her first GTN Conference, she wondered if being an employee of a top-producing business might set her apart from advisors running their own agencies. It did not. Every advisor in the room was championed the same, no matter where they are in their journey or what their goals look like. This is the kind of community we build every day at GTN.

Thank you to Abby McCormick for this thoughtful testimonial. If you're considering a host agency, we encourage you to explore our reviews on Host Agency Reviews to hear directly from advisors in our community and gain a clearer perspective on what it's like to align yourself with Gifted Travel Network.
