Hit a triple double chrome bender these past few days. Kicked it off with seabass limits for 11 guys by 7:50am on the Reel Deal out of Santa Barbara - thanks for the invite Kevin & Ian!

The salmon opener / closer were chaotic as expected but yielded wide open fishing both days with kings up to 28 pounds. Great to see an abundance of salmon out there and such a solid grade out of Morro.

While we won’t be offering salmon trips in 2025 due to the uncertainty and limited season we look forward to getting clients on some seabass with summer around the corner!

A bittersweet weekend coming up here. Unfortunately due to the limited season we won’t be offering salmon trips in 2025.

Quick glimpse into past circa 2021 & 2022 we were really hoping salmon would be an integral part of our spring-fall program. With our focus on bottom fishing these past few years, seeing the clip pop and feeling the pump has become a distant memory.

Time to make the most of what we’ve got and see if we can’t put some chrome in the box. Good luck to everyone participating in 👍

Some nice halibut in the mix. With summer around the corner we should be seeing a lot more of this as the temps rise.

Live bait is starting to come into the equation as well which has always been productive on our Halibut / Rockfish trips in May and June.

Some incredible halibut and lingcod fishing to start our season. Encounters of the flat kind early-on indicate good things to come as we roll into May.

This trip ended with 3/4 limits of ling and 7 halibut up to 30lbs. A stellar day on the water with Tom and his crew.

Cod season is here. Limits of reds & lings with a stud 28lb x 40” hali as well as plenty of other biters for our group today before the wind got us.

Somehow we’re less than a month away from slinging jigs in the shallows again. Targeting this diverse variety on light tackle in 30-80ft has been our bread & butter these last few seasons, yielding action-packed days and productive results.

April is filling up but we still have availability with more openings in May. Local trips starting at $200 per angler—book using the link in our profile, it’s time to start bending 🤘🏻

CCFC Cod Tackle Tips for 2025:

For fishing shallow rockfish and lingcod (100ft or less) we recommend a 300-400 sized low profile baitcasting reel paired with a ~8ft casting rod rated 15-30lbs. Spool your reel with 40-50 pound braid and bring your favorite 1-4oz jigs.

For fishing rockfish and lingcod in 100-220 feet use a similar setup with a larger casting spool size of 400-500 and spool yourself up with 30-40lb braid. Bring your favorite 2-7oz jigs for this mid-depth range.

Anything deeper than 250 and 300 feet plus bring your 400-500 size slowpitch reel spooled up with 15-30lb braid and those 200-500g knife jigs to get down quick.

We plan on fishing all-depths this season depending on angler preferences, the time of year, and what’s accessible condition-wise.

Private charters for 4 people can be customizable at request to focus on specific techniques like slow-pitch jigging or swimbait fishing.

Took advantage of the stellar conditions this past weekend and ran a crew trip up the coast. Went 5/8 on flatties up to 20lbs or so (excluding the ambitious sanddab).
