Grassy Bar Oyster Company Grassy Bar is an oyster bed on Morro Bay estuary, cared for by the Trevelyan family of Cayucos.

I am a marine ecologist with 30 years experience working in sustainable, environmentally sound molluscan aquaculture. Grassy Bar was founded in 2009 when I "bought the farm" and got beached on the back bay with a bevy of bivalves. Much to my relief my son Charles came to help me, and to share my passion to coax our beds to flourish with the succulent shellfish.

Yesterday we received the unfortunate news of a sewage spill into Morro Bay Harbor. Thankfully, it has since been contained and health officials jumped in quickly to mitigate public access to the contaminated water. However, out of an abundance of caution and a dedication to uphold our high standards of safety & quality, we will be entirely closed for harvest through the next 10 days and possibly even through the following weekend as we await cleared water quality samples. We apologize to all the folks we know this will affect and we hope to be back shucking with you soon!
