A little "June Gloom" isn't stopping us from enjoying these humpbacks! And we've got these shots from yesterday's trip taken by to prove it!

Even when skies are gray (which is not unheard of in Morro Bay this time of year), we love seeing incredible whale action on our daily whale watching trips.

So if you find yourself in Morro Bay, don't hesitate to join us on an ocean adventure! The humpbacks are here, and they're putting on quite the show!

This humpback - identified as CRC17825 through - was seen today on our morning trip outside of Morro Bay. This same whale had also been seen in Hawaii in 2023 🌺

Why is this so interesting?

Humpbacks are typically known to follow specific migratory patterns, which those we see usually travel up and down between central Mexico and the coast of California.

But we've been seeing a few whales recently that have been spotted in Hawaii as well, which is outside the normal expected migratory pattern. While not unheard of, this only happens occasionally and is actually helpful for gene diversity within the species.

We love getting to ID the whales we see on trips and check out where they've been through happywhale.com - and we so appreciate the contributions to whale research that this organization is doing.
