Morton is home to the beautiful Rainbow Granite quarried by Coldspring company. Stop by to check out the exhibit at the Renville County Historical Society and Museum. You can still purchase the quarried stone for headstones and other projects. RCHS also has 4"x4" coasters for sale ($10 each) of the Morton Rainbow Granite. Each coaster is unique. This particular granite has been quarried in the area since the late 1870s and is characterized by swirls of color throughout the pieces. There is a hill of 'disposed' Rainbow Granite on a hill as you enter Morton from the east, which is the backside of the quarry. As you drive around Morton, you will see the granite in its buildings and curbs. A legacy of history!
