100 years ago today, a boy from Mount Airy was born who would go on to leave an unforgettable mark on American television, film, music, and culture.

Andy Griffith shared the values, humor, kindness, and sense of community that made Mayberry beloved around the world. While his career took him far beyond the streets of his hometown, his roots in Mount Airy never left him.

Today, as we celebrate what would have been Andy Griffith’s 100th birthday, we honor not only his remarkable achievements but also the lasting legacy he created for our community. Because of Andy, millions of people discovered Mayberry—and many continue to visit Mount Airy to experience the charm and spirit that inspired it.
