Today was truly a moving and powerful experience. Standing on the beaches of Normandy and walking in the footsteps of the brave men who fought and so many who gave their lives for our freedom was incredibly moving. Reading about D-Day in history books is one thing, but seeing these beaches in person brings a whole new level of understanding and appreciation for the courage, sacrifice, and determination of those who landed here on June 6, 1944.

Our visit to the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial was especially powerful. Row upon row of white crosses and Stars of David overlooking the sea serve as a humbling reminder of the tremendous price that was paid for the freedoms we enjoy today.

We also visited a fascinating museum that houses countless artifacts from D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. It was remarkable to see the tanks, jeeps, military equipment, uniforms, and personal belongings that tell the stories of those who served. One of the most interesting things was that many of the military jeep, tanks, trucks, motorccles and other equipment that had been left behind after the war were used by locals for personal, farming or business use for many years before eventually finding their way into the museum. One jeep was discovered being used on a farm as late as 2009.

With a couple of solo days between our Girls’ Trip Med and Greek Isles cruise and Jon meeting me in Paris you could probably guess where I’d be.

Today’s stop was Sicily. We areanged a private pasta making class with the sweetest Sicilian chef, Daniella, who welcomed us into her beautiful home for a day filled with learning, cooking, wine, laughter, and incredible food.

On the menu:
Cavatelli with fried zucchini
Ravioli with ricotta & lemon
Pappardelle with pesto
Fresh cannoli stuffed with sheep’s ricotta, lemon zest, sugar & delicious toppings

Local immersive Experiences like this turn a vacation into magical moments that you will remeber for a lifetime!!

This excursion? Absolute 10/10 and will be a top recommendation for my Med Cruise or Italy clients visiting Sicily.
