Meteorologists call September 1st the first day of fall.
Up here the shift is easy to feel. Cooler mornings, quieter water, and light that makes everyone linger outside a little longer after dinner.
Autumn is also the best stretch of the year to get the whole group in one place. The crowds thin out, the afternoons stay warm, and nobody is competing for a spot by the water.
This lakefront home in Long Pond was made for that trip. Seven bedrooms and four full bathrooms, so everyone gets a real bed. Four kings, two twins, four bunks. A heated private pool with lake views, a fire pit and gas grill in the backyard, and lake access through the Emerald Lakes community.
Inside, the movie room, the game room with the pool table and arcade, and the poker room with the wet bar all open into one another. Everyone stays together without being on top of each other.
