A little bit of Rockcastle County history via country music legend Jeannie Seely. 🩷

Jeannie wrote and recorded the song “Farm In Pennsyltucky,” which reflected ties to her home state of Pennsylvania as well as her connections to Kentucky. In 1969 Jeannie married Hank Cochran in Renfro Valley, Kentucky, where Hank was part owner of the venue. Jeannie later performed many times at Renfro Valley including when these photos were taken in September 2010, August 2013, and July 2018.

Jeannie was commissioned a "Kentucky Colonel" by Kentucky Governor Louie B. Nunn. She wrote a song titled “Call Of Kentucky” which she recorded with the Osborne Brothers. In her final years she produced the Kentucky-based bluegrass group Cutter and Cash & the Kentucky Grass.

Throwback Thursday: In honor of Dolly Parton, we wanted to share this precious photo of her with Pete Stamper. Pete was Dolly's road manager and opening comedian during the 1970s. He also managed the Dolly Parton Show in Nashville.

In talking about Pete Stamper, Dolly Parton said, “Pete Stamper is a perfect gentleman – respectful, reserved .. and you would think he is anything but a comedian except for his funny twist on everything. He reminds me of Will Rogers.”

Waddle on in to the Duck Duck Jeep Car Show and Cruise In this Thursday, August 27th. ALL makes and models of vehicles are welcome to show off their ride between 5PM to 8PM. There will be door prizes, Charlie Napier providing music, and more. It is FREE to attend, so come on out.
