Gem of the Prairie at Kickapoo Tea Room

Enjoy afternoon tea and program. This lunch will be a menu of heavy hors d'oeuvres and desserts. The program will center around the history of the Tea Room, which is a former Methodist church, and the area of Downs, Illinois.

A dream was born when a charming 114 year old church building went up for sale in Downs, Illinois. Denise and Lisa decided this building would be the perfect place for a tea room! The building is located near the Kickapoo Creek so the name of Kickapoo Tearoom was chosen. “We love the idea of bringing people together." Tea rooms are a place for friends and family to connect in an environment that is set apart from our hectic society. Denise and Lisa have worked to create a space that is warm, calm, and inviting to escape the world for a moment and just enjoy another’s company. These ladies both appreciate the French Provincial styling and had much fun in cultivating the atmosphere of their tea room which feels elegant yet comfortable.

A Note From Timi

When I started Timi’s Tours in 2006, I dreamed of providing Central Illinois with amazing travel opportunities.

I could never have imagined the tremendous reception we have received! We work diligently every year to provide our travelers with new adventures, while keeping our classic Timi’s Tours destinations in the schedule for new customers to experience for the first time! While there’s so much I love about what I do, I take such joy in someone telling me, for example, that they never thought they’d see see the Statue of Liberty in their lifetime and now one of their dreams has become a reality. We love traveling our beautiful country (and world!) with you!

Be it traveling to a sunny beach in Florida or Hawaii, taking in the amazing entertainment in Branson, observing the natural beauty of the fall season, seeing a fabulous Broadway Show, discovering exciting mystery trips, touring New York City, or exploring the Southern and Western frontiers of America, we always have a great time! I believe that in life, we all could use a little adventure and a good time with friends, and that’s what I hope you will get to experience when you sign up for one of our tours!
