The Mullica Hill Christmas House Tour is TOMORROW! Our last sneak peek is the infamous Spicer House. This restored 18th century colonial home was once owned by prominent land owner and early settler Jacob Spicer. The current owner is local attorney, Jeffrey S. Downs, who has resided in the house for two decades and has recently moved his law practice to the Spicer House. The features that make this property historic and special are the low ceilings, multiple wood burning fire places, early hardware, front and rear stairways, and random width pumpkin pine floors. Only two days until the Mullica Hill’s Christmas House Tour. For today’s sneak peek we are highlighting two stops that have a long history in Mullica Hill.
Mullica Hill Friends Meeting House and Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. The Quakers founded the Mullica Hill Friends Meeting House in 1806, and it continues to remain active today.
In the late 1800’s, a small group of black Christians founded the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. They purchased a small piece of property on High Street and in 1905, they built their first church and then built a bigger, more modern church next door in 1974.
Both of these places of worship have strong community ties. Farm House Design
