Thank you for sharing your great stories about The Munising Delft Theater! Several people asked when was it built - 1916! It remained shuttered from 1965 to 1970 when it was demolished.

The Greater Munising Bay Partnership for Commerce Development/Alger County Chamber of Commerce and the Munising Downtown Development Authority are hiring an Executive Director to help lead economic development, support local businesses, strengthen partnerships, and guide downtown and community development efforts across Munising and Alger County.

The role includes business attraction and retention, grant and funding development, placemaking, advocacy, organizational leadership, and collaboration with local, regional, and state partners. Candidates should bring strong leadership and communication skills, experience in management and economic or community development, and a real interest in helping the region grow.

People have been celebrating summer at Bayshore Park for many years. What were your favorite days or celebrations there?

Binsfeld Bayshore Park was renamed in 2014 to honor the late Connie Binsfeld, who served as Michigan’s lieutenant governor from 1991 to 1999. She and her family maintained a beloved secondary home in Munising, where she became a staple of the local community.

Exciting local volunteer opportunities are coming up at the East Channel Lighthouse in Munising, Michigan.

This month, HistoriCorps, along with volunteer workforces, will head to the Hiawatha National Forest https://www.fs.usda.gov/r09/hiawatha to restore the historic East Channel Lighthouse. There will be three week-long volunteer sessions between September 6- September 25.

HistoriCorps is looking to recruit volunteers from the area and get the word out about this historic preservation effort.
