The Munising Downtown Development Authority is a Gold Sponsor for Pictured Rocks Days 2025!

🌟 The purpose of the Munising DDA: To correct and prevent the deterioration of downtown areas 🌺

The MDDA was established in 1976 as allowed by Michigan's Public Act 197 of 1975, otherwise known as the “DDA Act.” The DDA Act authorized the use of Tax Increment Finance (TIF) to correct and prevent the deterioration of downtown areas in the State of Michigan. TIF funds may be utilized by the DDA as follows:
Infrastructure improvement projects – streetscapes, street lighting, floodwall protection, parks & open spaces, placemaking, catalytic projects, historic preservation, and marketing & promotions.

Pictured Rocks Days will be held on June 13 & 14, 2025 at Munising's Binsfeld Bayshore Park, www.picturedrocksdays.com.

The bridge to Miners Beach is now open.

News Release: Miners River Bridge Replacement, Closures to Begin 8/15

Beginning August 15, 2024, the bridge on Miners Beach Road over Miners River at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore will have single-lane closures. Visitors can expect delays during this time. After Labor Day, September 2, 2024, the bridge will close completely to traffic in both directions.

This closure is anticipated to last until Memorial Day, May 26, 2025, subject to weather delays and other factors.

Miners Beach will only be accessible on foot via the North Country National Scenic Trail from Miners Castle. Miners Castle will remain accessible during the closure of the bridge.

The bridge over the Miners River is nearing the end of its lifespan. The Federal Highway Administration has called for a full replacement of the bridge, citing declining structural integrity.

Existing barriers to sea lamprey will remain in Miners River below the bridge. Water quality will be monitored throughout the project to minimize impacts on natural resources.

Additional information regarding Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore can be found at www.nps.gov/piro or on Facebook and Instagram .

A big thank you to the Munising Visitors Bureau for being a Premier Sponsor for this year's Pictured Rocks Days, which takes place on Friday and Saturday, June 13 & 14, 2025 @ Binsfeld/Bayshore Park in Munising 🤩🥳

While tourism dollars fund the organization, the Munising Visitors Bureau makes a point of investing some of those resources back into the community. Operating as a nonprofit beneath Michigan Public Act 59, the MVB's financial backing is derived from a 5% occupancy assessment tax imposed on hotel rooms. These funds are used to support promotional materials, events, and other initiatives in the greater Munising community.

Thank you Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and the Coast Guard.

Yesterday afternoon, Pictured Rocks’ response vessel, Arrowhead, supported crews from U.S. Coast Guard Station Marquette and U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City to rescue a fishing vessel taking on water north of Grand Marais.

The four lives onboard the fishing boat were saved and their boat was towed back into port.

A huge thank you to all involved!
