Little Diggers Playspace offers over 1200 sq ft of pristine, soft sand and loads of construction themed toys for kids to enjoy in a wonderfully air conditioned spot. Everett enjoyed the conveyor belt and crane diggers a lot and stayed near those for most of our hour.
As adorable as this business is, I have some notes as a mom of two sensory sensitive kiddos.
The place was packed! I’m talking shoulder to shoulder. I asked the GM if there were less busy times and she said it generally stays busy all the time. She also said there is no clear limit on capacity and they make the decision in the moment as to whether it’s too crowded.
The front door was not blocked off or reliably monitored, so an eloping child could run off easily.
Connor was not allowed to play because he is above their max age (7). When he sat with Everett to help him take turns or move buckets of sand, he got in trouble. Totally understand that it’s a rule, just really hard on families with older siblings so plan accordingly.
If I were to go again, I’d get a party room and split the cost with friends. You get your own private sandbox and toys plus an area for eating.
Otherwise, I think this space is ideal for toddlers (think filling buckets & pouring things out). The sand is regularly cleaned and sight lines are great for that age.
🚨From going online, I found this: Dedicated Sensory Sensitive & Special Needs Playtime every Monday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM with dimmed lights and calming music.
