Hot take: Disney is unveiling a new Ai enabled tool to plan vacations, and a lot of travel agents are big mad. They are worried this will replace them.

The truth is, people like to plan their own vacations. Not everyone wants (or needs) a travel advisor. But at the same time, not everyone knows what all a travel advisor can offer. It’s just resort options and ticket packages, it’s the human touch that makes the difference.

The value I bring isn’t just my suggestions (informed by real life experience) or the fact that I get to know my travelers and their unique needs in ways AI can’t. It’s that I’m there for you. I’m there to walk you through the options and to figure out what is best for your family. I’m there when the app doesn’t work or you’re panicking because your kid is sick or you lost your credit card. Ai can’t help in those moments.

Travel advisors are more than search engines and deal finders. We are the real, live humans that care as much about your trip as you do. We’re the people that will hear you out when you’re panicking about what lighting lanes to book and we will calmly walk you through strategy. We’re the ones that will help walk you off the ledge when your toddler has a breakdown on Dumbo and you just need someone to listen to you lose your mind for a second.

So I guess this AI tool is great for planning, but maybe not the best for practice— because AI is a tool. It’s not a partner like I am. It’s not a friend that legit cares about your experience. It’s an algorithm fed information to provide the “best” predicted, mathematical outcome. Its “suggestions” and recommendations are not personalized, not really. It won’t consider your picky eater and pickier husband. It won’t consider your POTS or that you’re trying to do Disney with a 5 year old and no stroller, old school, the way your parents did it. Ai can’t replace human beings— it can’t replace real relationships and care. That’s what I provide. Relationships and care. I’m your travel partner. We’re in this journey together. Some trips don’t make it from “planned” to “travel” — and this is one of those trips where life just got in the way. I can’t help but imagine Ross yelling “pivot!” Sometimes ya gotta pivot( and the trip ends up on the cutting room floor)

I decided I should totally share these “almost trip” moments— like this one to Costa Rica. The client was looking for adventure with a side of relaxation, lush green but beautiful beaches, volcano vibes plus beach service. The natural choice was Costa Rica.
