After 18 years of planning trips, I've learned that the difference between a good trip and a great one usually comes down to the details most people don't think about until something goes wrong.

So here's everything I keep in mind before a single booking is made:

01. Never book a destination without checking seasonality
02. Never overpack an itinerary
03. Never pick a cruise-line based on price alone
04. Never underestimate travel days
05. Never skip travel insurance
