Today we remember our dear friend Hayden Panettiere, whose passing at only 36 is heartbreaking.

Hayden visited us many times over the years and brought such warmth, kindness, and genuine love for the animals every time she came. She formed a wonderful friendship with Vali the chimpanzee, and she had a special love for our tigers.

These photographs from 2015 capture the Hayden we will remember: smiling, loving, completely at ease with the animals, and simply enjoying being around them.

Thank you, Hayden, for your friendship, your kindness, your beautiful spirit, and for caring about the animals we love so deeply.
You will be greatly missed. ❤️🐅🐒
