NATURE OF A SOUTHERN RIVER
With Waccamaw River Tours, you will explore by boat the beautiful cypress lined Waccamaw River, Intracoastal Waterway and its creeks/swamp; in search of birds, and other wildlife that inhabit these southern waters along the untouched National Wildlife Refuge. The majesty of the moss lined river is breathtaking and the peacefulness of this natural area is appealing to all. You also may see heron, egrets, cormorants, ducks, turtles and alligators. You’ll be greeted by roaming peacocks and gaze upon exotic animals such as buffalo, zebra, fallow deer, emus, and sheep on the drive to & from our docks at the back of the Waccatee Zoo. Waccamaw River Tours is a separate business from the Zoo. Parking is free. Learn about the history of this river and surrounding areas. It is a historic and educational exploration of nature for all ages. The beauty of this river is a medicine that soothes the heart and heals the soul. Mother Nature has other plans for us today, so Waccamaw River Tours is CLOSED today due to inclement weather. The safety of our passengers and crew always comes first! 💙

🐊 4 FEET OF ALLIGATOR… AND A WHOLE LOT TO LEARN! 🐊

Check out this video of one of our approximately 4-foot alligators hanging out on the Waccamaw River! 👀🐊

One of the most important things we teach on our tours is why we NEVER feed the alligators. Feeding wildlife can change their natural behavior, make them associate people and boats with food, and create an unsafe situation for both people AND the animals.

That’s why our tours aren’t just about seeing incredible wildlife—they’re about learning how to safely share the river with it! 🌿🦆🐊

Our guides love teaching guests about alligators, birds, turtles, plants, river history, and the amazing ecosystem right here in our own backyard. And yes… we have a LOT of fun doing it! 😄
