We've got a lot of guests coming in the next few weeks to celebrate warmer weather and spring! Be sure to check out downtown Manteo -- just a few minutes from the house and such a quaint, small-town spot on the water. Perfect way to spend a day at locally owned shops, grabbing delicious locally caught seafood and exploring the boardwalk at the Sound.

Our favorite restaurant Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe welcomes back a handsome couple of Ospreys every season, and they're back! Welcome Ricky and Lucy!

The restaurant is a 5 minute drive from our house and serves some of the best local seafood you'll find. Not a seafood fan? Excellent steaks and other goodies, too. My fave is the parmesan-crusted chicken!

Construction at the end of the pier is happening - but the pier is still open! Our favorite spot!

The crew is removing the old from the end of the Pier so it is closed. are W at 2 knots. Ocean temp 44 degrees, air temp 60 degrees. Low tide 7:06 a.m. High tide 12:43 p.m.

This is a touching video of a home being moved away from the ocean to safer ground in Buxton. About an hour south of our house, Buxton has lost many homes to coastal erosion and storms over the past few weeks. No, these homes were not "on the water" when they were built. The erosion has worsened dramatically in recent months due to the loss of a large portion of the jetty in that area. We are thinking of these homeowners and the permanent residents of Buxton.
