Pelican's Paradise You will feel welcome in our beautiful home. It is just a short walk down the cul-de-sac and over the boardwalk to the beach.

You do not have to cross over any roads. Our private pool provides a place to hang out or for cooling off on those days when the surf is too rough. A hot tub by the pool provides a place for relaxing your muscles that are tired from playing in the surf. Our home has 4 Master Bedrooms with King beds and private baths plus Jack and Jill bunk rooms for the kids. The house also has 2 outdoor showers for rinsing off when you return from the beach. There is a great golf course nearby.

😮: Check this out, “sound effect” snow band has developed over parts of Washington, Tyrrell, Dare, and Hyde Counties over the Pamlico Sound into parts of Ocracoke and Hatteras Island. This is a testament to how cold this air mass is as it passes over relatively warm water.
11:03AM: Upon doing some more digging, it looks like this band may have originated near a lake along the NC border and was somewhat enhanced by the sounds/ so it might’ve been a sound-enhanced lake-effect snow band.

Is anyone seeing any snow?

In July 1901, the Wright Brothers descended on Kitty Hawk for their second time with high expectations. The previous year they had tested a glider, but because of its small size, they only piloted it a few times and mostly flew it as a large kite. In 1901, they built a much larger glider with the intent of piloting and proving their wing-warping technique. Despite their best efforts, the glider never worked to their expectations. It was much harder to control compared to their 1900 glider and it created less lift than they calculated.

How did they bounce back from such disappointment? Well, after a solemn journey back to Dayton, they continued working. They didn't give up. They created a wind tunnel, they re-did their math calculations, and they made improvements to their next glider which proved extremely successful. They almost gave up after 1901, but persevered and were able to overcome their disappointment to become the legends they are today.

If you must dig, don’t go deep and fill it back it.

If you must dig, don’t go deep and fill it back it.

The only thing impressive about this hole? That someone managed to dig it during an extreme heat wave. 🥵

⛔️ But let’s be clear: this beach hole is not safe. ⛔️

Digging in the sand can be fun, but failing to fill in holes before you leave is extremely dangerous:

⚠️ Hazard to people: beachgoers walking or running on the sand, especially at night or during high tide, can fall into deep holes, risking serious injury.

⚠️ Danger to wildlife: sea turtles, particularly hatchlings, can become trapped or disoriented in large holes on their way to or from the ocean.

⚠️ Risk for emergency responders: holes hidden beneath the surface or by the tide can collapse under the weight of rescue vehicles or cause injury to first responders during emergencies.

Please remember:
👉 If you dig it, you must fill it.
✔️ Smooth out the sand completely before you leave.
✔️ Pack it down so it’s safe for all.

This isn’t about shaming, it’s about education and safety. Do your part to help protect the people, animals, and spaces we all love and, remember, leave it better than you found it ✨

Thanks Duck Surf Rescue for their help to fill this in!
