Travel Tip Tuesday...

In Sunday's Sensational Summer post, I mentioned a few Disney “Worth the Splurge”…
Staying on Property - Early Entry Hours are key! It’s amazing how much you can get done in the first two hours of being in a park.
Park-hopping - Going to more than one park in a day, naturally breaks up the day, and provides you with much needed downtime in the middle of the day.
Lightning Lanes - I won’t spend more than 20 minutes in a line, so these are a must!

Disney Parks Part 2
Our 2nd day of parks started at Magic Kingdom and ended at Epcot.

For this post, I want to mention another “Worth the Splurge” that we have found recently in our past couple of stays.

Since I was a kid, whenever we visited Disney, even when traveling as adults with my family, we have always rented a car. I have never known any other way. So, naturally, when I started going with my own family, we rented a car. We like it to be able to get around. We start by heading to the Publix and stocking up on snacks and drinks. Parking is free at the resorts and free at the parks when you are staying at a resort. So, it’s a no-brainer for us! Now, don’t get me wrong, we take resort transportation in the form of a monorail, boat, or skyliner, but until a few years ago, I had never taken the bus. In fact, my very first trip on a Disney bus was after becoming an agent on one of the agency trips. After all, I was supposed to experience and learn new things, so this was helpful for me to do. However, it won’t stop me from renting a car when we go.

We also have learned the magic of Preferred Parking! Since we are staying on property, it is only $20 a day and for the entire day! So, when we went to Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios on Day 1, we gave it a try in both locations and had front row parking! Day 2 for Magic Kingdom and Epcot, once again, we had front row parking. It made it so easy to get in and out of the parks!

SO, I better get going with my Sensational Summer Series...

Disney Parks Part 1
Getting all 4 parks within 2 days. It will probably be no shock, that when you raise a child going to Disney as much as my son has, they also become a fan of Disney vacations. However, his rule is we must go to all 4 parks. Could we do it in a day, yes, but we are a mid-day break type of family in-between park hopping. So, 2 days is not a problem. To help make this happen and I believe totally “Worth the Splurge”…

Our first day of parks started at Animal Kingdom and ended at Hollywood Studios. It’s always a great start, when your favorite characters happen to come out just as you are heading in, so you end up being first in line with no wait!

Well, as always, I plan to post in the moment and next thing I know, I'm home. Today's post is the second trip that I took this past week for my Sensational Summer Series. I went on a quick 60 hour trip, visited two of my favorite resorts, and had some time to unwind and go to a park!

The first night, we stayed club level at the Polynesian. For this stay, it was totally worth the splurge! We pretty much enjoyed breakfast, lunch, snacks, deserts, and cocktails all throughout the day! During the day, we relaxed by the the pool. We then took a trip to Disney Springs for dinner. That night, we sat on the beach to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks.

Day 2 consisted of breakfast at the club, dropping our luggage off to be transferred to the Beach Club, and spending the morning knocking out some rides at Epcot. At lunch we headed to the Beach Club and up to the club level there. We then went down to the pool for some relaxation time, before going back to Epcot. We had dinner and did a few more rides. I managed to get all of the "Big 3" Lightning Lanes at Epcot, unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and we didn't get to do Test Track or see the Fireworks show that night. So, we headed back to the club for some desert before turning in for the night.

The final 12 hours consisted of breakfast at the club, shopping all around the boardwalk and at the hotels, pool time, lunch at the club, and using the wonderful locker room amenities to shower and get ready before leaving for the airport. Oh and the concierge at the club level will pack you a to-go bag full of snacks for the plane!

All in all, it was a wonderful 60 hours!

The only thing that gets me up and out of the house at 4am... travel... looking forward to a 60 hour magical adventure! ...

As an Educator, for the past 25 years, August 1st comes and I am back in my classroom, spending some of the last of my summer days getting it all set for the upcoming school year. By now, my room would be all set. However, due to construction in our building this year, I can’t get into my room. So, rather than stress about it, what did I decide to do? Plan a last minute Disney trip of course! Bright and early tomorrow, I’ll be leaving to spend the next 60 hours in my Happy Place. So, stay tuned to follow along in my Magical Adventure!
