Finale Friday...

I almost forgot my final post of our spring break adventures!

The return home started with breakfast as our first stop up the road. We didn’t get very far, since everyone was hungry. The journey home included a few fun stops along the way. The first was at a Route 66 Museum in Springfield Missouri. There we checked out the cars and bought a few things.

Then any road trip in the south on Rt. 66 without a stop at Buc-ee’s. So, of course, we had to stop to pick up a few non-necessary items. There was an uneventful stop for lunch and a quick stop at the World’s Largest Catsup Bottle in Collinsville Illinois. Who knew?

There is also a really cool Route 66 stop in Springfield Illinois, but with all our other stops, we opted to skip it. Maybe next time! All in all, it’s definitely a trip I would do again!

So, if your interested in a road trip or any trip for that matter, I am happy to help! Contact me today to start planning your next travel adventure!

Branson Part 3
I can’t believe I forgot to mention this in my first post! Breakfast at Billy Gail’s was the absolute best. So much so that we returned for another breakfast there. The pancakes there are 14inches! And I swear the second time, they were even bigger! I would highly recommend this restaurant! There are more than one of them in the area, but we like the one located near Silver Dollar City and the campground there. It had a rustic feel to it.

A return to Shepherd of the Hill Adventure Park. For one, we really wanted to do the Ziprider and it was worth the wait! We arrived early, so we headed up the tower which was included in our package. Then we headed back down to be the first in line for the mountain coaster. We determined we preferred the Copperhead Mountain Coaster, as it was a longer and fast ride. After the coaster, we went back up the tower to wait our turn for the Ziprider, with four side-by-side “seats” down over a half-mile long zipline reaching speeds of up to 55 MPH. What a ride!

Lunch was at Local Flavor, another great meal. We then did some more go-carting and another round of mini-golf. A break at the hotel before heading out to a dinner show. We went to see the Whodunnit Hoedown. The food was ok, but we really enjoyed the show.

It was our last night, and so the consensus was one more round of racing. Then I requested a quick shopping trip to finalize our souvenirs. We went back to get ready for our day of travel, which was an adventure in itself! Stay tuned…

On this Where to Wednesday...

Branson Part 2
Previously on Spring Break 2026, we arrived at our destination and did a ton in 1.25 days. Branson Landing, water show, Silver Dollar City, mountain coaster, Extreme Racing and this was just the start.

The day we had planned for the Sheppard of the Hill Adventure Park, had to pivot a bit. Our original plan was to get there, start with the mountain coaster (knowing the line gets really long based on my research), then do the Ziprider. Well, the Ziprider was closed for the day. So, the planned changed to ziplining and by the time we finished, the coaster line was too long. However, let me just say, because of our timing and the way it all worked out, it ended up being a private zipline tour! So, cool!

With our timing all off from our original plan, we headed to Historic Downtown Branson. Walked around the shops and got a few souvenirs. We then decided to head back toward the other Branson strip for a delicious lunch at Getting Basted! Soo good!

This afternoon, there was a visit to the ferris wheel and we checked out another go-cart track and well, let’s just say we ended up going back to the Xtreme Racing after a few rides. To be fair, we did try to go to another track, but it was closed. We also tried another mountain coaster, but it was closed too. “Spring Break” for the south was over the week our spring break was, so there were some things that weren’t open during the week.

So, we ended up back at Sheppard of the Hill Adventure Park to ride the coaster there, before we went to check out Table Rock Lake. Since we have a place and a boat on the lake, we often like to explore other lakes. However, we opted not to rent the boat this trip. So, back to the hotel for a break.

Dinner that night was at a cool restaurant called Pasghetti’s, with 7 different themed rooms. Another great meal. After dinner, we went to our first mini-golf course, Dinosaur Cavern. It was another busy day, so back to get some rest. Still more to come…

Branson Part 1
In working around a shorter spring break with our son being a high school athlete, we chose a driving destination. Branson is about an 8 hour drive with a stop at St. Louis in the middle.
When we arrived, we checked in at the Marriott WIllow Creek, which was a beautiful resort. We got settled, explored the grounds and then headed out to Branson Landing.

Branson Landing has plenty of restaurants, shops, and entertainment. It is also located along the river, and offers a nice strip of river walk, as well as fountains that are centrally located. Every hour on the hour, the waters of the fountain dance to music, with additional lighting and fire special effects.

Our first full day at Branson was spent at Silver Dollar City. They have some crazy coasters and we found the Trailblazer (skip the line) pass, very worth it. We did everything and all before dinner. We arrived early, which was nice because there was plenty to explore before the rope drop. Needless to say, it had been a long time since I had been and we will definitely be back!

Since we finished before dinner, we headed back to the hotel for a quick break. Regrouped and headed out for dinner. Fall Creek had some great food, but if you want their delicious rolls, be ready to catch them. When they come out, a server brings out the batch and tosses them to anyone who has their hands out.

Each full day of our trip included a mountain coaster and go-carting. After dinner, we hit our first mountain coaster, which was the Branson Coaster and it was pretty quick and a very smooth ride! Then off to go-carting at Xtreme Racing. Little did we know that this would be such a big hit, that we should have invested in the largest race package. We will know for next time. We also determined that this was the best track and cars around! Arrived back at the hotel for a little night swim. More adventures to come!

Spring Break 2026 has begun!
This year it's a road trip...

St. Louis Union Station is a fun stop or a place to check out of you are staying in the area. With a variety of food options, entertainment, and attractions, it has something for all ages.

Since it's a Midwest travel adventure, we had to make a stop for gas and stock up on supplies at Wally's.

Next stop Branson Missouri.
