🐚 ROSE MUREX vs. MOTTLED ROSE MUREX 🌹

Can you tell the difference? 👀

These two beauties are easy to confuse when you’re out shelling, but there are a few clues to help you tell them apart!

🌹 Rose Murex
Typically has a more pronounced, rose-pink coloration and a cleaner, more uniform appearance. The shell is heavily sculpted with those beautiful frilly varices that make murex shells so recognizable.

🌸 Mottled Rose Murex
As the name suggests, this one tends to have a more mottled or spotted appearance, with a mix of colors and patterns across the shell. It can be a little trickier to identify because coloration can vary quite a bit!

🔎 The important part: Don’t rely on color alone! Shell identification often comes down to the overall shape, sculpture, spines, varices, and other small details. And that’s exactly why having a trained eye makes such a difference when you’re shelling!
