Disney World Adventure: Day 7 Animal Kingdom

My parents picked us up at Port Orleans Riverside bright and early to head to Animal Kingdom. First up was the safari. Next we headed to Pandora for Flight of Passage and Navi River Journey. We then made our way to the Festival of the Lion King show (fantastic as always!).

We were all hungry so we headed to Yak and Yeti for lunch - special shout out to the Landry’s Select Club and not needing a reservation!! 🙌🏻 After lunch, Chad rode Expedition Everest while my parents went with me to Disney’s Travel Agent Appreciation station. I got a few goodies and fun pictures taken. We also had free Mickey Bars and bottled water.

Up next was Feathered Friends In Flight (we hadn’t seen this show in many years!) and Nemo. My parents were pretty tuckered out so they decided to head back to their camper for some rest.

Chad & I couldn’t resist riding Dinosaur again before it goes away. Then we just had to get pictures with Chip & Dale in their Dino costumes. We did a little shopping then headed to the hotel to regroup.

We met my parents at Fort Wilderness for dinner and some campfire sing-a-long fun. We said our goodbyes and headed back to our resort.

We decided to walk over to Port Orleans French Quarter to bring back some boozy beignets - I mean, it’s our last night so…

Disney World Adventure: Day 6 Magic Kingdom

Started the morning meeting my parents and riding Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. I did reasonably well grabbing Lightning Lanes so that we wouldn’t have to crisscross the park. The only heavy hitter we didn’t get was Jungle Cruise. And sadly Tron went down tonight during our Lightning Lane window and we couldn’t ride.

We had lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern and funnel cakes for dinner. As much as I love Happily Ever After, we left before the show. We are all exhausted and have another early day tomorrow.

Disney World Adventure: Day 5 Blizzard Beach

Started our morning by checking out of All Star Music and stopping by bell services to have our luggage sent to our next resort. My parents picked us up and we headed to Blizzard Beach! 💦

This year and next, all Disney resort guests get free water park admission on arrival day. Since we were switching resorts, that applied to Chad & I. My parents still had non-expiring water park days available on old park tickets they found. We rented Lodge Umbrella seating so we wouldn’t have to struggle to find seating.

First up was riding the chair lift up the hill. Then we all rode the Teamboat Springs family water slide. After a little while in the wave pool, we grabbed some lunch at Lottawatta Lodge. We spent considerable time in Cross Country Creek lazy river. We lounged a bit and got some ice cream.

Next we checked into Port Orleans Riverside, retrieved our luggage and got ready for dinner. We met my parents at Steakhouse 71 at the Contemporary Resort. Dinner was fantastic!

Back at our room prepping for a full day tomorrow!

Disney World Adventure: Day 4 EPCOT

Today was rope drop to closing out EPCOT. Started with Guardians during early entry for resort guests. And finally got Conga!! Next up was Mission Space. Then back to Guardians for our Lightning Lane. Afterwards we rode spaceship earth, had a snack in The Land pavilion then rode Soarin’ and living with the land.

Thanks to more lightning lane magic we knocked out Nemo and Figment next. Then we decided to take a little break and rode the Skyliner to Caribbean Beach and back. Next up was Frozen Ever After and some snacks from the China food booth. We then moseyed our way past the trains in Germany to go see the American Adventure. Afterwards we rode Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure then made our way to Rose & Crown for our fireworks dinner package. With all our trips, we still hadn’t seen Luminous - it was great!

Disney World (?) Adventure: Day 3 EPIC UNIVERSE

Honestly, I have no words. This park is amazing. The YouTubers are not overselling it. It really is fantastic!

We started the day with Chad going downstairs to secure his park ticket. We opened our park view windows and saw people entering the park at 8:30! We scrambled to get ready, store our bag with bell services and grab breakfast. Oh and even though we were sure we did not need a Power Up Band… we bought a Donkey Kong Power Up Band. Being able to enter the park from Helios Grand Hotel was so easy - highly recommend!

We rode most rides. The almost 2 hours we lost due to rain/lightning hampered our evening. Otherwise I am confident we could’ve ridden everything. We did miss the two shows and the line to meet Toothless was over 50 mins since many rides were down in the rain. I even was able to ride Hiccups Wing Gliders when it finally came back up just before park closing! 🙌🏻

This park is amazing.
I’ll definitely be back, hopefully soon.
I’ll have to gather my thoughts later. The only negatives were stairs - there are tons of stairs! And the food we did try was not great. Other than that - this park is excellent.

Tomorrow: EPCOT - Maybe we’ll finally get the elusive Conga on Guardians?

Disney World Adventure: Day 2 Hollywood Studios

My parents picked us up and we made our way to the park for our first Lightning Lane at 9:30am: Rock n Roller Coaster. Gosh, I’m going to be sad to loose Aerosmith - but also excited to see what they do with the Electric Mayhem.

Thanks to Lightning Lane Multipass (and my excellent modification skills) we rode everything except Slinky Dog (😭). We dined at 50s Prime Time Cafe for lunch with the Fantasmic Dinner Package.

Around 6pm we went back to rest a bit at my parents’ camper. Then we headed back to Hollywood Studios for Fantasmic. I love that show much!

We left Hollywood Studios and went directly to Universal Orlando’s brand new resort - Grand Helios. We were here 10 mins and were blown away. Location, location, location!

Disney World Adventure: Day 1

Landed last night around 11:30pm. Spirit and those Go Big seats? 🙌🏻 Retrieved luggage quickly and headed to Mears. As expected, there was a wait to fill the bus. Then we stopped at 4 resorts before ours. We got to bed shortly before 2am. 🥱

Everyone knows I am NOT a morning person. But at Disney it is almost a requirement. We barely got into EPCOT for early entry before the official park opening at 9am. Waited about 50 mins to ride Guardians of the Galaxy in the standby line. Then rode a second time with our Lightning Lane. “Conga” still eludes us! 🤷🏼‍♀️. We checked out Club Cool and did a little shopping. Next we monorailed to Magic Kingdom.

We had a little time before our Tron Lightning Lane so we rode one of the old timey cars to the hub and had lunch at Sleepy Hollow (Chad) and Columbia Harbor House (me). We walked back through Fantasyland and over to Tron. Love that coaster! Now it was time to leave Magic Kingdom and head to Fort Wilderness to meet up with my parents. But before we left, we picked up a candy apple for a mid day snack.

My parents met us at the boat dock and we rode their golf cart to their camper. We enjoyed the apple and rested a bit. Later we made our way back to the marina to go have dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge. We hadn’t dined there in many years and it was great. We ended dinner with a birthday cake for Chad. (Happy Birthday, baby!)

After dinner, we parted ways. My parents headed back to their camper and us to our hotel room. Our next two days are jam packed so we did some organizing and prep.

Tomorrow: Hollywood Studios and moving over to Universal’s Helios Grand Hotel tomorrow night!
