Considered by some to be the birthplace of w**e, with evidence of vinification there stretching back 8,000 years, there is much to be learned about Georgian w**e. John Wurdeman & Gela Patalishvili of Pheasant’s Tears focus on reviving these ancient traditions by growing near-extinct native grape varieties and aging in qvevris, the traditional clay amphorae buried underground. W**emaker Spotlight: Petit-Roy!

Seiichi Saito, the man behind this exciting, new micro-négoce, studied at the w**e school in Beaune in 2006, then moved to Burgundy in 2008. Prior to starting Petit-Roy in 2017, he spent time working with domaines such as Bize, Mugnier, and Rousseau ane Leflaive. Later, Seiichi managed to buy 2.1 ha of regional appellations which he works biodynamically (he complements the range with purchased grapes). The w**es reflect Seiichi’s unique journey in w**e and gastronomy. They provide immediate enjoyment, combining bright fruit and pure, salivating energy that lingers on the palate.
