Just finished assisting another fun block printing workshop with Jeanne Brady at Southeast Fiber Artists Alliance (SEFAA) in Atlanta. What a fantastic place! And working with Jeanne is always a treat! I hope to come through here again. All you fiber artists in the southeast: keep your eyes open for some great upcoming programming and membership benefits. They even have a nice little reuse store!

I’m trying to broaden my palette a bit with color combos that don’t work with my skin tone. Here’s one of those colors I wish I could wear. Same poncho—many ways to wear it.

I love finding big buttons and sometimes even making my own. But when someone gifts vintage or reclaimed buttons, I can barely contain myself. Such kindness is definitely not forgotten.

I just finished another week-long wonderful workshop at Arrowmont and as always I met some pretty special people. What made this time extra special though was running into three other attendees that I’d been in workshops with in the past. This place is incredible for so many reasons but the people here make it the best.

I made a little amateur movie about the prototype of a pendant lamp I made following my workshop with Beth Ireland which has inspired me to keep learning about woodworking l, allowing me to continue my surface design exploration. My creative goals keep growing and morphing as my interests get piqued and I think they will culminate into something that inspires even more 3D projects.

I’ve been doing a lot of early prep to include some of my prints at upcoming holiday shows which I’ll be participating in. In my prep, I’m revisiting some blocks from days gone by. I prefer creating open editions of prints because spending all the time to create a block by finessing the drawing, transferring it to the block, carving the block, printing multiple prints from said block and then at times, like in the print above, adding watercolor accents to those resulting prints—all of these together allows for a broad and unique mix of prints. For me that’s reason enough to keep printing from the same block until the block just can’t take any more use. Plus it’s less wasteful. 😊 I know some printmakers (maybe more successful than I am) who may not agree but I’d like to think it’s fine to have differing views despite what others may believe.

More new prints! I love the consistency I can get with block printing (when I’m lucky anyway) paired with the variety I can get with watercolors over the print.

I’m adding a bit of color to some of my prints. It’s a nice change of pace to pull out the watercolors and soften the edges.
