GEC - Global Educational Concepts GEC was approved for our J-1 Sponsorship designation from the U.S. Department of State in 2005. Global Educational Concepts, Inc.

(GEC) is located in Nashville, TN. We are a designated sponsor of the U.S. Department of State’s J-1 Summer Work Travel, Trainee, Internship, Camp counselor, High School and Teacher programs. We fully support and believe in the public diplomacy opportunities these exchange programs offer our Participants, Host families and Host Employers. The leadership of GEC has over 100 years of combined experi

ence working directly with thousands of international students. We seek to provide the best service and support possible to the young people who participate in our programs while adhering to the regulations that govern these programs. Our program participants can be found living, working, and training all across the U.S. We are proud members of the Alliance for International Educational and Cultural Exchange and the World Youth Student and Educational (WYSE) Travel Confederation.

As her Summer Work Travel adventure comes to an end, we're wishing Maria Blinnikova from Estonia safe travels on her journey home! This morning, Maria shared traditional Estonian pankoogid - Блины (bliny) in Russian, which are delicate thin pancakes similar to crepes, and they were delicious! She also shared photos and stories from home, giving us a glimpse of Estonia's beautiful summers and snowy winters. We have truly enjoyed learning about Estonian culture and sharing ours with such an amazing young lady. Thank you, Maria, for sharing a piece of your world with us. We'll miss you and wish you all the best on your journey home! ✈️❤️

In his 250 words John said: "The picture shows me in an activity/attraction in Chicago called 'The Tilt'. The whole experience reflected what I love being in America the most. It's not just a land of opportunity for most people. It is also the land of finding the strength in you. I have a fear of heights but I managed to conquer it especially that I have found the hidden strength in me since my first struggles the early days I first stepped here in the US. Going out on this trip to Chicago as a whole equally as scary as that activity I did. It was my first leisure trip alone. I am used to big cities in the Philippines but there in Chicago, I was a stranger to the place. But despite all that, I had so much fun riding trains again, walking along busy streets, taking pictures, and also watching my first ever Major League Baseball game. Truly, my American journey so far is worth all the tears and struggles."

Celebrating in Myrtle Beach! One of GEC’s own, Karley (part of your Program & Participant Support Team!) headed over to Myrtle Beach to take part in Exchange Day with participants in the area! Karley helped volunteer with the local Community Support Group who organized an event at Myrtle Beach Waves where local could donate $5 to benefit the local Boys & Girls Club. Their donations got them a full day at the water park, free lunch, merch, goodies and entries into a raffle! A total of 301 participants came out and raised $1,200 that was donated to the Myrtle Beach Boys and Girls Club. An amazing turn out and a show of exactly what is all about!
