This month's Meet The Board features Shannon Jessie - our resident Firecracker! 🧨

We hit the jackpot with Shannan Oliver-Jessie on the GBTA-TN Board! As Director of Sales at the Holiday Inn Express Nashville Downtown Broadway, Shannon brings more than just experience - she brings pure energy, heart and a spark that lights up every room she walks into! 💥✨🧡

Whether she's charming airline ✈️ pilots, wrangling wine & deliveries, or sprinting from the spooky critters on a ghost 👻 tour, Shannon keeps us on our toes - and laughing the whole time! It's no wonder she snagged the "Wing Woman" award at the Board Retreat in 2024. 😂😉

When she's not making moves in the travel industry, she's exploring new music 🎵, tending to her garden 🪴, birdwatching, or soaking in the soul of New Orleans (or wherever her adventurous heart takes her next.) Her passion for people, community, and connection shines through - especially in her love for volunteering at The Store, a Nashville gem serving thousands of families with dignity and care. 🫂🥬🍎🥕🍇🍌

We're beyond lucky 🍀 to have Shannon's wit, warmth, and fearless spirit on our team. She's not just a board member - she's a GBTA force of nature! 🔥⭐️❤️

This year, as we awarded our annual scholarships, one recipient stood out — not just because she was selected, but because of the remarkable excitement and pure joy she brought with her. 💫

Chelsea Drummings was truly overjoyed to attend GBTA Convention. We believed in her, and she believed in this opportunity. Her energy was contagious, and we couldn’t wait to welcome her to Denver. 💼✈️

To honor Chelsea’s legacy and the bar she set with her passion and enthusiasm, we are renaming this scholarship in her memory.

It was a packed house yesterday for our May Chapter Meeting at the !
Mackenzie Grahek of International SOS led a powerful session discussing traveler profiles and risk management-highlighting the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ and marginalized travelers. ✈️🏳️‍🌈🧡

Traveler profiles go beyond logistics - they are shaped by your physical needs, emotional and mental wellbeing, and social identity. 👤🧠
Each element plays a critical role in ensuring a safe, informed and inclusive travel experience! From legal risks to cultural sensitivities, she emphasized the need for organizations to support travelers thoughtfully with inclusive, identity-aware travel policies and proactive duty of care. Diversity matters-on and off the road,
and both domestically and internationally!
