Appearing at Angels on the Bluff 2025:
Dr. Frederic Seip, born in Pennsylvania in 1777, arrived in the Natchez District about 1803. A highly respected physician with a successful private practice, he also volunteered his time to care for indigent patients at the Natchez Hospital that he and his colleagues helped establish in 1805. Veteran presenter Sam Jones returns to Angels to share Dr. Seip’s many adventures and accomplishments before his life ended much too soon at the age of forty-one.

A new choice?

A new choice?

The U.S. has witnessed its first burial using a mushroom coffin, a biodegradable casket made of mycelium, the root structure of fungi. These coffins break down naturally and absorb body toxins, returning the body to the soil in a clean, eco-friendly way.

Mycelium grows around an organic frame and biodegrades in 30 to 45 days after burial. It’s part of the emerging green burial movement, aiming to replace traditional caskets and chemical embalming.

This new form of burial offers a sustainable, regenerative return to the Earth, aligning life, death, and ecology.

Appearing at Angels on the Bluff 2025:
Albert Charles “A. C.” Berdon Sr. was born in Natchez in 1861, the second oldest of nine children born to German immigrants August Berdon and Mary (Broeg) Berdon. In 1883 Albert and his brother-in-law Natale Salvo opened the Salvo & Berdon Candy Company, whose headquarters were a familiar landmark in downtown Natchez for many decades. You won’t want to miss veteran presenter Rusty Jenkins’s portrayal of confectioner and entrepreneur Albert C. Berdon.
