There’s nothing quite like an early morning in the marsh.

The landscape shifts. The birds are different. The feel of the place—it’s its own kind of thing.

The ride out sets the tone. You’re gliding through skinny channels, open water, and stretches of marsh grass. Birds are everywhere. You could almost throw a rock off the boat and hit one without trying. (Don’t worry, we don’t recommend it—we’re just sayin’.)

Since it’s a bit farther out, we bring everything with us. Bartenders. Cooking staff. Tables. Fire pits. After the morning hunt, we’ve got sausage on the grill and drinks in hand. Most guys eat well, then crash in one of the chairs we pack in—don’t worry, they’re extremely nappable.

You’re out there all day, surrounded by nothing but sky, water, and good company.

🦆 Why does Mexico have higher bag limits and longer seasons?

A lot of people assume it’s because there aren’t any rules. That the reason we’re able to shoot the way we do down here is because there’s no oversight, no wildlife management, and no one enforcing the laws.

That couldn’t be further from the truth.

Mexico has a well-run, well-staffed wildlife and fisheries department with experienced biologists who monitor migratory bird populations closely and set seasons accordingly. What a lot of folks overlook is the real reason the limits are different: the number of hunters.

Mexico has a fraction of a fraction of the duck hunters that the U.S. has.
And when you’ve got fewer hunters, the science changes. These populations still need to be managed, and without enough pressure, the birds can become overpopulated or imbalanced. So in order to keep things healthy, Mexico allows for longer seasons and higher bag limits.

If the U.S. only had a few thousand duck hunters across the entire country, the rules would look a lot different too.

So yeah—our numbers down here might surprise you. But everything we’re doing is within a carefully managed system that works, and works well.

And just because the seasons are different, doesn’t mean it’s off-limits to you. We’ve been running hunts out of San Fernando for over 10 years. We’ve brought thousands of clients down, and not a single one has had a negative incident. No problems. Just good hunting, cold beer, and the best shooting of their lives.

🦮 A lot of people ask us why we hire Bird Boys instead of run dogs.

There’s a few reasons—and they’re all good ones.

First off, these guys know the land better than anybody. They know where the birds are, where they’re flying from, and where they’re gonna fall. They can spot a snake in the brush from 60 yards out. They’ll find a downed bird you’d swear disappeared into deep into thorny brush.

They’re remarkable. No other way to say it.

But more than that, they’re a part of the experience. You’ll be with the same Bird Boys your entire stay, and by the end of it, chances are they won’t feel like staff—they’ll feel like friends. A lot of our guests keep in touch with them year-round. They leave with memories and with people they genuinely care about.

And they’re really the backbone of this operation.

They don’t just recover birds and crack jokes in the blind. They make sure nothing goes to waste. After each hunt, they clean every bird, de-breast them, vacuum seal, and freeze them for you. It’s a full-circle process—and they handle it all with pride.

So to those of you who’ve hunted with us before—thank you for being so generous with these guys. They earn it. And we’re lucky to have them.
