Put a group of friends in a White Wing field and it does not take long for somebody to start keeping score.

That friendly competition is one reason the White Wing package works so well for groups. At Wide Open Outfitters, friends can position themselves close enough to watch each other shoot, carry on a conversation between flights, and make sure nobody quietly forgets the bird they missed. Groups that prefer more individual shooting room can spread out instead.

The hunting provides plenty to talk about. Birds can arrive from different directions and offer a mixture of crossing, quartering, incoming, and going-away shots. One person might find a rhythm early while another spends the morning insisting the wind is responsible for everything.

The current drive to our dove fields generally ranges from 15 to 45 minutes, which leaves more of the day available for the people you came with. Once the group returns to La Finca, meals, drinks, cards, pool, and time around the lodge become as much a part of the trip as the shooting.

That is one of the things that makes a Wide Open Outfitters hunt different. The group gets to share the field instead of separating for most of the day, and the fun continues after the guns are put away.

Welcome to the Graveyard.
This is one of the most consistent dove spots we hunt at Wide Open Outfitters. It’s a ranch we lease that happens to have an old family grave on the property, which is how the spot got its name.

The reason the Graveyard produces so well is pretty simple. There’s plenty of feed for the doves throughout the surrounding ranch land, and this property holds the only reliable water hole for miles.

When the birds are moving through this area, they have everything they need right here.

And this is just one of the many dove holes we hunt close to the lodge. Our scouts are out every day gathering intel, checking ranches, watching flight patterns, and figuring out exactly where the highest concentration of birds are.

We don’t just send customers to the same spot every day. We send them where the doves are.

Only at Wide Open Outfitters Hunting Lodge are you going to get excitement like this.

One of the best parts of our White Wing Package is the camaraderie. You don’t have to sit there dead quiet taking everything too seriously. You can hunt right next to your buddies, talk smack, get a little competition going, and still get some of the most sporty shooting you’ll find anywhere.

Most of the places we hunt during White Wing season are also much closer to the lodge. That means shorter drives, more time in the field, and more time back at the lodge having drinks, eating good food, and cutting up with your friends.

This is our laid-back package. It’s for groups that want to take it easy, have a great time together, and still get an unbelievable amount of shooting in.

Get your friends together and come to Mexico.

Our Dove package includes six dove hunts along with lodging, meals, open bar, license, transfers, and rooms. Most groups fly into Brownsville, Texas, where a member of our team picks them up, helps them across the border, and gets them to the lodge roughly two hours later. It is one of the easiest ways to do a trip like this without having to travel halfway across the world.

This is the more relaxed of the two trips we offer, but do not confuse relaxed with slow. It is still a very high-action trip. The difference is in the rhythm. Shorter drives, birdy country close to the lodge, and more time to enjoy everything once you get back.

The hunting itself centers around milo fields, brush lines, gravel pits, and nearby ranches. Our scouts are out every day checking where the birds are most concentrated, which lets us stay on the best setups instead of guessing. If your group wants to be close together and enjoy a little more talking and friendly competition, we can do that. If you want more room between shooters, we can do that too.

A big part of what people like about this package is that it gives you the action you came for without making the trip feel like a grind. You hunt hard, eat well, get taken care of, and still have time to enjoy the lodge. Drinks are ready when you get back, the food is strong, the service is sharp, and the whole trip has a more easygoing feel than a lot of people expect from this kind of volume.

It is a great option for fathers and sons, groups of friends, client trips, and returning crews that want a lot of action without a punishing schedule.

How are Mexico white-wing numbers looking in 2026? Good or bad?

One of the biggest things working in our favor has been the weather. Northern Tamaulipas has seen several consecutive years with better rainfall than normal. That doesn’t just help one season. It has a compounding effect. Better rainfall means more native vegetation, more food, better nesting cover, and higher survival for young birds. When you string several good years together, each strong hatch helps build the following year’s breeding population.  

We saw an incredible White Wing season last year, and based on what we’re seeing on the ground, this year has the potential to be even better. The multiple wetter-than-average years back-to-back have really caused a compounding effect on the numbers.

Our scouts are already reporting excellent bird numbers, and we’re expecting another season with the kind of action people travel across the country to experience.

We think this could be another historic season at Wide Open Outfitters.

You hunt the same day you arrive to the lodge. That’s how easy it is to get here.

Part of the reason we keep an 80 to 90% rebook rate every year is because once people figure out there are genuinely world-class dove hunts right in their backyard, it gets pretty hard to justify going anywhere else.

You can leave your house in the United States in the morning, fly into Brownsville, Texas, let us pick you up and bring you across the border to our lodge in San Fernando, Mexico, and that same afternoon you’re already out on your first hunt.

No losing two days of your trip just getting there and back. No traveling halfway across the world. You get to Mexico, settle into the lodge, have a drink and some food, and get straight to what you came for.

Where else can you get this level of dove hunting and still be back home just a few days later?

First catch of the season. All you need to know about our White Wing package.

You’ll have six hunts during your stay, morning and afternoon, with each typically lasting around three to four hours. Between hunts, you’ve got plenty of time to head back to the lodge, eat lunch, take a siesta, have a margarita by the pool, or just relax with your group before heading back out.

The trip is all inclusive. Your lodging, meals, fully stocked open bar, laundry service, gun rental, hunting license, and airport transfers are all taken care of. You’re really only responsible for your shells and gratuities once you get here.

We pick you up at the Brownsville Airport in one of our vehicles and handle the trip across the border to San Fernando. Depending on which package schedule you choose, you’ll either arrive Sunday and stay through Thursday or come in Thursday and stay through Sunday.

And when we say there’s a lot of shooting, we mean it. The trip guide recommends planning around 12 to 15 boxes per hunt on average, with some hunts going well beyond that.

Aside from that, pack casual. Shorts, camo T-shirts, tennis shoes, a shell pouch or belt, and your passport. We handle just about everything else.

Six hunts, great food, unlimited drinks, very little downtime, and plenty of time around the lodge with your buddies.
That’s the White Wing experience.
