“The Easter Call”
2014... While sitting in church 6 years ago I felt the conviction to make this call. Something I can’t explain, it was just a strong internal feeling.
While it is just a duck call, it has special meaning. Every little nuance is a symbol of the cross, death, and resurrection.
First the wood: the barrel is made from dogwood which is commonly accepted as the tree that the cross was constructed of. The insert is made from cocobolo and represents His blood. The stippling on the insert represents the crown of thorns he was forced to wear on the cross. The stippling on the band represents the nails. The three burn lines represent the trinity.
And finally the worm hole.... it was an unexpected surprise that would usually send a barrel to the scrap pile. However, as I pondered what my next move would be, I realized it was the perfect symbol of you and me. Unlike Christ, we are imperfect. We all have worm holes in our lives, but because He died for you and me, we are forgiven.
