Living in Ohio, this is just a way of life. We change clothes 6 times a day to keep up with the weather here. Seasons are just a suggestion and winter coats regularly pair well with shorts and sandals.

But when you’re traveling, you’re limited on how much you can pack. Even then, the weather changes even once you’ve departed for your destination. Being prepared is vital to a successful vacation. It’s always better to have something and not need it than to need something and not have it.

Even the forecast can steer us wrong sometimes. I cannot count the number of times a client heading to Walt Disney World is surprised when I insist they pack ponchos. “But there’s such a small chance of rain.” I insist and they thank me later. Something as simple as a poncho takes up hardly any space in your suitcase but saves you a ton of money later on and just lets your mind rest as you travel.

For the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to serve on the Welcome Home team at our annual Travelmation Retreat.

Each year, I get the chance to help newer agents connect with one another and feel more comfortable at a massive event with over 1,000 other travel advisors.

This team has also given me the chance to connect with other advisors across the country. So when a client has a question about a place I’ve never been to, there’s a good chance I’ve got a friend who knows a thing or two about that destination!

So often in industries like this, it’s easy to get competitive and focus on what YOU can do. To lock in on how YOU can succeed. This team always reminds me that we’re better together and we go further as a team.

If you’re like me, food is a massive piece of why you travel. Food can tell you so much about a place and we often link our memories to the food and drinks we enjoy.

Want a good meal next time you’re traveling? Ask a local where they’d go for dinner tonight AND trust them. Whether it is your Uber driver or the host at your hotel, they’re going to be the actual experts in that city - because they eat there every day.

People are so quick to rely on AI or websites like Yelp to tell them where to eat on vacation. While this can be a decent idea in a pinch, you’re likely going to get mixed reviews. Maybe the restaurant changed owners or closed since those reviews were left. Maybe all the chain restaurants pay for advertising and bury the good local options. I’m not saying you’ll never get a good meal this way, but I’m confident that people who care about their community will be better guides than the internet.

I spend most of my time planning trips for other people, but it’s nice to get away once in a while! This past week, we spent some time celebrating our son’s 5th birthday at Disneyland!

I realize I’m a bit of an outlier, but I’ll pick a trip to Walt Disney World over Disneyland every day of the week, but we had to go check out the 70th anniversary festivities. Whether it’s simply from one Disney property to another or visiting a different country for the first time, we all need to step out of our comfort zones and get out there!

There’s so much out there to see and do. Don’t be afraid to step away from whatever you’re doing and go enjoy it. Work will be there when you get back (I have the emails to prove it) and I’ll be here to make those travel dreams a reality.

In my opinion, fall is one of the best times to travel. Believe it or not, it’s actually not too late to plan a last minute trip to capitalize on some deals that are still out there.

Adventures By Disney may just be one of the best kept secrets in the travel industry. They offer you the ability to be guided around some of the most remarkable destinations in the world alongside tour guides who are truly experts in the region you are visiting.

No, despite what the name may lead you to think, you don’t just travel around with Mickey Mouse for awesome photo opportunities (although that would be pretty cool).
Instead, you get to stay in world class hotels, experience private tours at major destinations, and all of your transportation during the trip covered. You don’t even have to move your own bags and nearly all of your meals are included.

On this particular trip, my client even got to make and enjoy her own pasta right in the heart of Italy!
