Since starting Tokoph Travels in August 2022, we’ve had the incredible opportunity to complete 12 international trips together, with our very first group trip being to Italy in September 2023. What started as a vision to create meaningful travel experiences has grown into an amazing community of travelers, friendships, and unforgettable memories across the world.

Tokoph Travels was built with a special focus on healthcare travelers—people who work hard, give so much of themselves, and deserve meaningful experiences beyond their day-to-day routines. Over time, that community has grown to include friends, family, and like-minded travelers who simply share the same passion for adventure, connection, and seeing more of the world.

What makes these trips special is the sense of community we create together. It’s not just about the destination, it’s about sharing meals, learning new cultures, stepping outside of our comfort zones, and building real connections with people who may have started as strangers but leave feeling like family.

To every single person who has trusted me enough to book a trip, join a small group tour, and say yes to the adventure, thank you! 🙏 Your support means more than you know. Kyoto gave us one of those unexpected highlight moments… 🎨✨

We stepped into the world of roketsu dyeing—a traditional Japanese technique where melted wax is used to create patterns before fabric is dyed. Sounds simple… until you see the magic happen.

Designing our own pieces was fun, but the real moment?
When the textiles came out of the dye bath and the wax was removed… and suddenly EVERYONE’S designs came to life 😮🔥

Cue the ooohs, aaahhhs, and a whole lot of “wait… YOU made that?!”

What started as blank fabric turned into some of the most personal (and honestly, coolest) souvenirs we’ve ever taken home. The kind that actually means something.

This is why we travel the way we do—hands-on, immersive, and full of moments you can’t replicate anywhere else.

Kyoto really said: you thought you were just sightseeing? Think again 🇯🇵✨

Today we stepped straight into Japan’s past—training like samurai ⚔️ and forging like ninjas 🥷.

Our morning kicked off with a real samurai experience, where every katana movement had purpose—discipline, control, and meaning. We even learned hand fan techniques 👘, explored samurai poetry 📜, and watched a live performance that brought it all to life.

Then we went full ninja 🥷🔥. Heating steel over coal, hammering it into shape, sharpening real blades, and crafting our own shuriken ✨⭐—sparks flying, sanding belts buzzing ⚡. Each one finished with custom kanji 🈶, so everyone left with a souvenir they actually made.

This is what travel should feel like 🌏💫. Not just seeing a place—but stepping into it.

Day 1 in Tokyo 🇯🇵 and we went ALL in 🔥

14 travelers, one unforgettable city tour, and the perfect intro to Japan — made even better by our incredible guide, Makoto 🙌 who brought every stop to life.

We explored the iconic Tokyo Imperial Palace 🏯, wandered through the energy and history of Sensō-ji Temple ⛩️, and slowed things down with a hands-on matcha experience at Matcha Sweets Kaminari-Issa 🍵 (yes, we made our own tea!).

In between? Way too many snack stops 🍡🍢 (no regrets), views from Tokyo Tower 🗼, and cruising past Rainbow Bridge 🌉 soaking it all in from the water 🚤✨

After the tour, we kept the energy going with a welcome dinner of hotpot (shabu shabu style) 🥩🥬🔥 — loud, fun, and full of “how are we already this close?” moments.

And then… late night Tokyo hit 😈🌃

Packed into trains 🚆, a little chaos, a lot of laughs, and the kind of shenanigans you can’t plan — just the way a first night should be 💃🏽🕺🏽

Small groups. Big planet energy. 🌍🌱

Today with our Tokoph Travels small group in the Galápagos was one of those pinch-me days. 🐢🌋

We kicked things off at the Charles Darwin Research Center, diving into the evolution of species, conservation efforts 🌱, and the incredible tortoise hatching program 🐢—plus a quick stop at the gift shop and yes… we even scored a Galápagos passport stamp 🛂✨

After a brief intermission fueled by açai bowls 🍓 (because balance 😌), we headed out to explore more of Santa Cruz Island. Along the way we spotted blue-footed bo***es 🐦, pelicans, frigate birds, and an area packed with iguanas 🦎—especially the striking black marine iguanas that casually swim like it’s no big deal 🌊

The afternoon brought more snorkeling magic 🤿: blacktip sharks 🦈, colorful fish 🐠, sea turtles 🐢, and even an eel spotted by someone on our boat 👀

We wrapped the day with incredibly fresh seafood 🐟—highlighting scorpion fish, a local specialty that’s flaky, tender, and surprisingly delicious.

This is the Galápagos: wild, educational, humbling, and unforgettable. 🌱

🌿 Highlands hits different! 🐢

Yesterday we traded ocean views for misty highlands and headed into the heart of Santa Cruz Island 🌿

We wandered through the giant tortoise reserves, where these ancient creatures move through the landscape like living history, then hiked deep into a lava tunnel carved by volcanic eruptions thousands of years ago 🌋

Standing at Los Gemelos, massive collapsed craters hidden in lush greenery, our Galápagos National Park guide brought the island’s geology and evolution to life with stories and facts that made every stop even more meaningful.

It was hot, sweaty, and absolutely worth it — the kind of day where you’re constantly chasing shade and water but soaking up every second ☀️💦

We wrapped it all up with homemade blackberry and coconut ice cream pops, cool photos in the lava tunnel, and a group moment with a giant tortoise that none of us will forget 🐢✨

These are the days that remind us why we travel.

360° of pure Galápagos magic 🌊🐦

Today our Tokoph Travels crew teamed up with Aquaventures San Cristóbal for an unforgettable 360° boat tour around the island—and somehow it exceeded every expectation.

We snorkeled the crystal-clear waters of Rosa Blanca, spotted red-footed bo***es at Punta Pitt, enjoyed lunch onboard near Sardine Bay, explored the dramatic geology and endemic birds of Cerro Brujo, and finished strong with iconic snorkeling at Kicker Rock 🦈🐢

Along the way we were spoiled with wildlife moments that felt unreal: dolphins jumping alongside the boat, countless sea turtles, swimming with sea lions, reef sharks cruising below us, octopus tucked into the rocks, and even a rare seahorse hidden in the mangroves. The kind of sightings you don’t expect to get all in one day.

From above the water to below the surface, every stop revealed a new side of the Galápagos. This is why we travel—to witness nature in its purest form, together.

Prepared people. Powerful moments.

Some people shine when everything is easy.
Others show you exactly who they are when everything goes wrong.

If you’ve ever met Casey Borland, you know her as the one who’s always smiling, cracking silly jokes, and keeping the vibe light. But beneath that joy is someone you can always count on when it matters most.

Today, while we were out on a snorkeling excursion here in the Galápagos, Casey was on the shoreline when she noticed a boat approaching in chaos. The people onboard were waving frantically. A man was being pulled from the water—lifeless.

Without hesitation, Casey swam from shore straight out to the boat and immediately began chest compressions.

There was no shared language. The passengers didn’t speak English. His wife was wailing. Fear was written across every face. Casey was alone on the boat, shouting for help, relying solely on her training, her instincts, and her ability to stay calm in the middle of absolute chaos.

And that’s exactly what she did—she stayed focused, steady, and resolved on one mission: giving this man a chance.

Shortly after, other healthcare professionals from our group arrived and jumped in to help. We urged the passengers to contact the Coast Guard or emergency services. The outcome of this situation is unknown, but before we were pulled away by our guides to continue the day, Casey took one last moment to educate the remaining passengers, encouraging them to continue compressions until help arrived.

Everything happened fast. The adrenaline was real. The moment was heavy.

This—this—is the kind of character you can’t teach on a trip itinerary.

These are the people we travel with at Tokoph Travels. A community of healthcare professionals who support each other, explore the world together, and when needed, step up—no questions asked—even while on vacation.

Yesterday: Quito delivered 🌿🌍
Botanical gardens in Carolina Park, then straight to Latitude 0°00’00” at the Middle of the Earth. Indigenous history, shrunken heads, guinea pigs, ancient hunting traditions… plus watching water spin in opposite directions thanks to the Coriolis effect 🤯 (science but make it fun).

Today: ✈️ San Cristóbal, Galápagos 🦭☀️
Sea lions lounging on benches like locals, black iguanas, island cats, unreal food + drinks, and nonstop sunshine. Totally unbothered wildlife, unbeatable island vibes.

Two days. Two completely different worlds.
