Winter in New Braunfels brings one big perk for anglers — trout season on the Guadalupe River.

Each winter, rainbow trout are stocked in the river, turning this stretch of Hill Country water into one of the most unique fishing spots in the country. It’s a rare chance to chase trout without leaving Texas, whether you’re casting flies for the first time or dialing in your winter technique.

Public fishing access at Camp Huaco Springs is open through early March, giving anglers a chance to fish one of the southernmost trout streams in North America.

It’s fly fishing time! Trout were released on the Guadalupe River and one of the hot spots is at the foot of Rusty Rock. Direct private river access makes this spot special. Amenities like the pavilion make life relaxng. We privately rent the bunkhouse (sleeps 4) and the yellow house (sleeps 10) during winter months. Call for rates. 281-813-3560
