I ride parts of these roads all the time. This loop is about 200 miles and is east of Columbia and around Fulton. It usually has very little traffic. There are no extraordinary views but there are some nice spots. The curves and hills in this area might surprise you. If a person lives in the area and has 5 hours to ride, this one is pretty decent.
None of this loop is on Interstate 70. It does go on parts of Old Highway 40 which was as important as Route 66 back in the day. It also goes on some of the old Boone's Lick Road which was the original road west for about 50 years starting in the 1820s. Early settlers would literally travel in wagons west on the Boone's Lick Road before having to decide whether they wanted to take the Oregon, Santa Fe or California Trails. Some of the modern-day roads are laid right on top of the original Boone's Lick Road.
This area also boasts more than 40,000 acres of public land in the form of parks and conservation areas. There are decent camping and fishing areas. Plus, the Missouri River is on the southern part of this map.

This very rural ride covers 154 miles but stays fairly close near Hermann, New Haven and Washington Missouri. It has some short sections of gravel roads but they can be avoided if desired by modifying the route.

Other towns on this route include Swiss, Fredericksburg, Hope, Freedom, Mount Sterling, Drake, Stony Hill, Gerald, Port Hudson and Clover Bottom.
