This picturesque destination boasts an array of shops and attractions to explore. We had the pleasure of experiencing its warm hospitality firsthand during a delightful evening stay at a local inn.

Warning: the New England Coast is about to get a whole lot cozier! You've got your Inns, your B&Bs, and your Hotels, but let's be real, some are just more charming than others... like the Old Lyme Inn, which is basically the grandpa of the bunch (built in 1865, folks!). It's had a few facelifts over the years, including a stint as the Barbizon Oak Inn (named after a 300-year-old tree, because why not?). Now it's just a cool Inn with entertainment and a side of history. Come for the laughs, stay for the... well, everything else 😂

Brownell & Field Coffee Company, the OG coffee crew since 1895, started whipping up coffee syrup in the 1930s and Rhode Island was never the same! They're the brains behind Autocrat, the coffee syrup that's basically a RI resident at this point - you can find it everywhere in the Ocean State! ☕️

Tucked away in virtually every town and village along the New England Coast are fine examples and stories of our past. We bought this nearly 20+ years ago, it was a ruin, empty for decades, hole in the roof (stars shined brightly)... and not in the best neighborhood. Bought, restored it and studied the history of it. More on the house can be seen below in the link to the page (Meta).

Built by a Revolutionary War Veteran (Capt.Richard Douglass) in about 1801 (likely older), his son was Whaling Master Alexander Douglass who captained the Dauphin among others, and was a member of the crew to rescue those on the whale ship Essex yes from Moby Dick in 1820.

So look at each old home it has a story, some famous, some infamous but this is also what makes New England special. 1801 Richard Douglass House / Green Street, New London, CT
