As I'm growing up and changing, and my body begins to grow and my mind begins to evolve, and my emotions begin to swing, and my patience begins to thin and life begins to take on whole new meanings... I wonder... What's the content of your character? Will I look back and be remembered for who I am soul deep? Or who you imagined me? Did people only value me for the shell of who I am? Who k n o w s ME? And the more I think, the more I know. My mother named me Earth. She didn't know it then but she made me feel apart of something bigger. Just in a name. I L O V E my family, they know me. Each and every one of them. The grans and great grans that I only vaguely remember. The cousins who I've never met. And those who've grown with me from youth. My uncles and aunts, mother and father, my brothers and my sisters. See, my name means Earth and I am black. My ancestors are from Africa and around the world. We are people of dust and joy and resilience.. and I carry them in my spirit. And in my soul. To know me is to know them and to know that is to know that the content of my character is GREATNESS.
