Tripadvisor review: Dead Frenchmen Dark History Tour in New Orleans
Two friends and I took the Dead Frenchmen tour, led by Doug. We had a great tour all by ourselves around the downriver end of the French Quarter toward Frenchmen Street, where not many haunted tours go. New Orleans is an amazing city with a complex history like no other. Doug really made the journey come alive, from the founding by a rogues gallery of debauched French aristocrats, through importation of the first criminal colonists, to prostitution and the occult at the turn of the last century. You might want to check this tour out if you want a tour that goes beyond the normal tourist checklist of Marie LaVeau, Madame LaLaurie, and the Sultan's Palace. I love Anne Rice as much as the next guy, but the real history is much scarier (and more interesting) than pretend vampires ever were. Really looking forward to our next trip to New Orleans, and maybe another Jonathan Weiss tour."
