🫖 Spillin the (Boston) Tea Day 8: Come with me as my family travels to several New England states this week! On Day 8, our last day we headed back to Newport to see more of the historic mansions and then headed for home!

There are over ten homes on this list so seeing all of them in a day would take a lot but is doable depending on how much time you spend at each house. We saw three more homes before needing to head to the airport.
-Marble House
-The Elms
-Rosecliff

The Marble House started it all with kicking off the gilded age of mansions in Newport.
Rosecliff has a special exhibit about the architecture of The Breakers, The Marbke House and Rosecliff and is amazing. And if you like rhe show The Gilded Age some scenes were shot in these houses!

We spent four hours seeing these three homes. There are audio guide tours available and each one had a spectacular view of the water. es

🫖 Spillin the (Boston) Tea Day 7: Come with me as my family travels to several New England states this week! On Day 7 we headed back to Boston and then up to Portland, Maine.

We headed back to Boston enjoying the Freedom Trail, Some pastries from the North End before heading up to Maine! Some of our Boston sites were the Old North Church, Paul Reveres home, Old South Meeting House and Old State House.

Portland was beautiful! We had so much fun just walking around. Dinner was delicious!

🚨 TIPS 🚨

-The Freedom Trail can be walked or you can purchase Trolley Tickets.

-There are guided walking tours of the Freedom trail.

-there are 2 different trolleys, green and silver. The green trolley has more stops and encompasses a larger part of Boston. We took the silver trolley, the guides were funny and informative and we saw everything we wanted.

-if you drive I would suggest parking near the Boston Commons where the freedom trail starts.

-there is so much to see in Boston! So don’t rush to get everything in! Take your time.

🫖 Spillin the (Boston) Tea Day 6: Come with me as my family travels to several New England states this week! On Day 6 we travelled back to Narangansett beach and traveled up to Mystic, CT for dinner!

-Bella was able to take surf lessons with Warm Wind- Ryan was amazing and she had a blast! Made it look easy!

- Watched the movie Mystic Pizza? We found some of the spots from the movie!

-Mystic was beautiful and def a place I would come back to stay and visit in more depth!

-We found a snack shack and had some good food and ice cream.

🫖 Spillin the (Boston) Tea Day 5: Come with me as my family travels to several New England states this week! On Day 5 Bella and I traveled to Quincy, MA

The goal: to see as many things to do with John Adam’s (my favorite president) as possible! We visited the burial of John & Abigail as well as John Quincy and his wife. (They are burrier together)The birthplace of John and John Quincy, and the family home as well as the family library.

At the burial site (which is under the church) we learned about that the current President sends flowers to grave of deceased President, which started with LBJ and Kennedy. They make a big deal in Quincy for the two presidents.

The Library has over 11,000 books!

And we had to stop in at the Origial Dunkin Donuts before heading back!

🚨 TIPS 🚨

-check the NPS website. The houses were closed due to the heat but the library was still open for tours since it’s climate controlled.

-buy tickets at the NPS welcome center, watch the video! And then go across the street where the tombs are. Tours are free! Donations are welcome!

-you can walk to the houses but honestly take the Trolley! Free and easy!

🫖 Spillin the (Boston) Tea Day 4: Come with me as my family travels to several New England states this week!

Day 4 we made a trip into Boston! There is so much to see and do! We have a short amount of time so on this day we hit 3 things up.
-Boston Tea Party Museum
-Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
-Boston Public Library

We took the Amtrak into the city and loved it! Threw fake tea into the harbor. Grabbed a drink from the giant Milk Bottle

🚨 TIPS 🚨
- You can throw fake tea in the harbor! Do it!
-visiting the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum- PLAN! It is huge and has soooo many things! Paintings, sculptures, tapestries, furniture, and more. We spent hours and I know we missed things!
-Boston Public Library is beautiful, free and a must stop!

🫖 Spillin the (Boston) Tea Day 3:Come with me as my family travels to several New England states this week! On Day 3 Bella and I traveled to Salem, MA!

We checked off a bucket list item and saw places from the movie Hocus Pocus along with some famous Salem sites. We had so much fun enjoying the architecture, the sites from the movie and Salem in general.

🚨 TIPS! 🚨

- be prepared to walk. Although it was busy it’s nothing like it is in the fall.

- It was easier for us to drive to the different sites from the movie, but if you really want to see the sites for the Salem Witch Trials be prepared to walk.

- I would advise more than one day to visit!

- Take a guided tour. They are led by teachers and historians and are a wealth of knowledge.

-know the hours of places you’d like to see just in case they are closed!

-be flexible and have fun!

🫖 Spillin the (Boston) Tea Day 2: Come with me as my family travels to several New England states this week! On day 2 we had to pivot! Ran into transportation issues getting into Boston so Bella and I drove to Narragansett, RI.

Absolutely gorgeous! Had a great time walking the beach and watching people surf! Water felt amazing and with the wind the heat wasnt overwhelming.

🚨 TIPS! 🚨

- be prepared to walk and park if you do not have a Residents parking pass. We walked maybe a mile but I gave us a chance to see some beautiful homes on the coast.

- it cost to get into the beach. They took card only while we were there. It was $12 a person

-there was a building with showers, lockers, food and drink and bathrooms and places to wash off when you came off the beach. The staff were awesome!

🫖 Spillin the (Boston) Tea Day 1: Come with me as my family travels to several New England states this week! While our first day wasn’t in Boston it’s definitely something that should be on your list if you’re visiting the area!

Newport, RI is home to the Newport Mansions. Ten historic homes from some of the wealthiest families in the U.S.

This day we visited The Breakers built by Cornelius Vanderbilt II in 1893. During that time it cost 6-12 million $. Today it would cost $350 million to build. It was absolutely stunning and definitely an insight into how the wealthy lived during the Gilded Age.

🚨 Tips!! 🚨
- when you purchase tickets you purchase for a TIMED entry to The Breakers. You can purchase for a single home or The Breakers +1 or +2 or +3.

- check the price if you’re seeing more than one home. We purchased ahead of time and then realized it SAVED us money if we purchased a membership (2 adults and 1 guest) and we have access to all the homes and not just three like we had originally planned.

- parking is free around there is a lot at The Breakers but it does get busy!

- Either eat ahead or be prepared for a pricy lunch if you eat on site

- Be ready to be awed!

-Do the audio tour it’s free!

Where have your summer travels taken you? It’s a first for my Bella today as we land in RI.
