A dear friend & person,MIKE PARKHURST, founder of OVERDRIVE magazine, the largest paid circulation of any trucking industry magazine from 1961 until he sold the magazine in 1985. Mike started trucking in the 1950's as a furniture hauler as an independent o/o for North American van lines.Mike changed the trucking industry for the better in too many ways to talk about here.his one accomplishment was Leading the fight to deregulate the industry, which is directly responsible for FIRST CLASS EXPRESS'S existence. Until 1980 there was a monopoly preventing that.His favorite two sayings were 'don't tell lies about me & i won't tell the truth about you' & 'The pen is mightier than the sword'. MIKE PARKHURST passed away of a heart attack on monday july 21, 2014 at the age of 81. We'll miss ya ole' buddy- see ya later
