This is a great reminder for everyone, not just clients, preparing for summer travel!!

For Americans traveling abroad for a summer vacation, keep these tips in mind!
✅ Make sure your passport isn’t about to expire (some countries require it to be valid for six months beyond your trip).
✅Check local laws and requirements at travel.state.gov/destination.
✅ Sign up for STEP at step.state.gov.
❌ Do NOT travel anywhere with a Level 4 Travel Advisory for any reason.
❌ Do NOT accept drinks from strangers.
❌ Do NOT break local laws.
❌ Do NOT place your phone or purse on the table or on the back of chairs at restaurants.
❌ Do NOT ignore local rip tide warnings or swim in undesignated areas.

Yes, I am hearing from my clients, and that's a good thing! I want clients to feel like they can call me with concerns. Some isolated incidents took place in parts of Mexico following a federal law enforcement operation in Jalisco — a state more than 2,000 km from the Riviera Maya. A ripple effect reached Quintana Roo in the form of a small number of localized disturbances.

Here is what Governor Mara Lezama has officially confirmed:

✈️ All four international airports are open and running normally. Zero flight cancellations. Any delays you may hear about are due to U.S. weather — nothing more.

🏨 The Cancún Hotel Zone is open. The rumors claiming otherwise are completely false.

🚌 The Maya Train, ADO buses, and all tourism services are operating without interruption.

👮 Over 10,000 security personnel from the Army, National Guard, Navy, and local forces are deployed across the state.

✅ No civilian injuries have been reported.

🔎 What was confirmed: a handful of vehicle fires in scattered locations and minor property damage — none in tourist areas or near hotels. Nine people have been arrested.

I don't post a lot, just when I have something important to share. 😄

1. The 2027 Alaska sailing season is available to book on all of my preferred cruise lines. Now is the time to book your cruise with a NO RISK, REFUNDABLE deposit and continue to save. Most final payments for 2027 summer sailings are due spring of 2027.

2. If you are still wanting to sail to Alaska in 2026, please be aware of the increased costs when sailing roundtrip from Seattle. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be taking place in Seattle. Visitors will find prices are higher for airfare, hotels, and transportation during this busy time.

3. It's not just Seattle that will see an influx of visitors and increased prices. The 2026 FIFA World Cup is taking place from June 11 to July 19, across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The U.S. cities hosting games are Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Seattle. If you have plans in these cities, please budget your money, and patience, accordingly.

You already know I have been booking quite a bit of Alaska for 2026. I think it's important to know Alaska can be done on most any budget. It's all about cost vs convenience.

This was an interesting blog post (and quick read) describing how one person sailed to Alaska on a very small budget, but not skimping on the experience she wanted. This guest set her budget, came up with a plan of what she wanted to see/do and worked within her means. It's a good example of how I help guest's plan. The two areas I discuss with clients during our first conversation are budget range and vacation expectations. If one of these isn't realistic, it can sink a vacation.

I saw this pic on Southwest's social media and it gave me FOMO! Southwest has released flights through March 4, 2025, with those flying after 1/27/26 getting to select their seats. (With holding judgement until I experience this firsthand.)

If you are thinking about spring break plans, the next schedule release will be August 14, 2025 for flights through early April.
