Fresh fruit and vegetables in Sicily just hit different 🍅🍑🍋🥬

One of my favorite parts of traveling through Europe is seeing, and tasting the difference in the food. The produce feels fresher, more flavorful, and often far less processed than what we’re used to seeing in American grocery stores. Tomatoes actually taste like tomatoes. Fruit is sweet and juicy. Ingredients are simple, seasonal, and grown to be eaten not just shipped across the country and made to last for weeks.

Travel is about more than beautiful views and luxury hotels… sometimes it’s about slowing down, visiting the local market, and remembering what real food can taste like. 🇮🇹✨

If you ask most travelers about Sicily, they will picture Taormina cliffs or coastal beach clubs. But whenever clients ask me for the true soul of the island, I send them straight inland to Susafa.

I recently spent a few days at this 500-year-old masseria tucked into the rolling hills near the Madonie Mountains, and it easily landed on my shortlist of favorite Italian countryside hideaways.

The Atmosphere & Vibe
Susafa has been in the Saeli-Rizzuto family for five generations, operating as a working agricultural estate long before welcoming guests.

The Setting: Endless golden wheat fields, olive groves, and dramatic mountain backdrops. It is completely removed from tourists and heavy traffic.
