Japan rewards the traveller who plans by the week, not the month.

Koyo moves like a slow front - north to south, downhill, September into December. Any single garden peaks for maybe a week; the country stays colourful for three months. That gap is the whole opportunity, and the whole trap.

For central Kyoto’s maples, late November into early December is the honest starting point - then check the specific gardens, because a city forecast can’t tell you what any one temple will look like. If early November is your only window, change the route before you give up on the trip. The right destination matters more than the famous one.

And leave room to stop. The travellers who come home happiest aren’t the ones who collected the most places - they’re the ones who gave Hakone, or a ryokan, or a quiet temple town the two nights it actually deserved.

Qatar Airways has revealed what comes after Qsuite.

Qsuite Next Gen takes the original concept further: wider lie-flat beds, taller privacy dividers, movable 4K OLED screens, more storage, a new window-side Companion Suite for two, and a redesigned Quad Suite that can open into one shared space for four passengers.

✈️ Here’s the insider update: Qatar originally intended to introduce the new cabin much earlier, but delays to the Boeing 777-9 pushed the timeline back. The latest official indication from Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority, published 10 September 2026, says the next-generation Qsuite is now slated for next summer - pointing to summer 2027.

The first routes have not been officially announced yet. The 777-9 is expected to be one of the main aircraft carrying Qsuite Next Gen, and premium-heavy markets are the ones to watch. London and Paris are particularly interesting candidates given Qatar Airways’ previously stated premium demand on those routes, while major US and Asian gateways would also make commercial sense - but those remain speculation until Qatar publishes the schedule.

So for now: revealed, yes. Flying, not yet.

Generative AI can now compare five business class routings, draft a coherent Tokyo itinerary in seven seconds, and answer any procedural question about visa entry rules. For the research phase of trip planning, it is genuinely better than a human generalist.

What it cannot do is call the airline when JFK closes at 8pm. It cannot see the private fares that never appear on any public search engine. It cannot access the suite that is held for an advisor, not the algorithm. It cannot read what the client has not written.

On current trajectories, none of that will be automated for a long time.
